Yes they are all neutered. I don't know about the strange one. I went out into the garden when I saw him later but he ran. What happens is that Tabitha is content to sit in the sun and Meesy will deliberately come over and start on her while she is just sitting. He will push her over!. Trouble is she anticipates it now and starts to growl. I don't know why the strange one attacked her. She must of ran into the field and then the strange one attacked her. Thank goodness she ran back into the garden and into the house. I am always scared that she will just run and get lost

 :welcome:
I assume all yours are neutered, what about the new strange cat?
Sometimes boys are more thugish and like to wind up the others (they do here  :evillaugh: ) is he guarding the entry/exit points that tabitha uses?
If you could create some areas in the garden which she can use to break up the journey in it may help. My boys used to wind milly up by watching her movements and sometimes darting at her, if she had furniture to travel across she could move around without attracting their attention. They were never mean to her but enjoyed making her think they were going to play with her  :sneaky:

Thank you for the replies. In the house they get on really well but I think the problem is that because \Meesy has attacked her once when she sees him heading for her she growls under her breath. They both have the same mother but Tabitha was born indoors so started off tame and Meesy and his brother and sister were born wild int he field and I trapped them and tamed them and he is the most gentle animal around me. They have taken a dislike to each other I think. As for this other cat he only looks about a year and played happily with Biscuit my one year old - I don't know why he attacked Tabitha. I will keep an eye on him and see what happens. I hope he isn't a stray.  I live in a close which backs onto a field so don't see too many new cats round there - it is my gang that have swelled the numbers!!!! I have put some photos up.

I've been told by Vicky Halls (behaviourist) that some cats are just victim cats (though I tend not to agree) and will be picked on where ever they go -  we have a couple who aren't the best of friends, I just make sure they have enough food, trays and places to sleep around the house that they can keep out of each others way and it tends to work ok  Amber (my victim!!) was terrified of Star when they first came to us (as a pair!) but has grown in courage over the years and as I say they have their own spaces and when they do meet will sometimes kiss nose to nose (and then back off as they realise who they are kissing!!)

Not really an answer to your immediate problem but it may help with Meesy picking on Tabitha,  I also have 10 cats, (soon to be 11) and we have one called Polly Pocket who we thought was being picked on by the others,   some days it was worse than others,  we did even at one point think we may try and re-home Polly so she wouldn't get bullied,  but I started to read about cats behavior and started to look out for things.  Now it seems Polly isnt as innocent as she makes out,  she is a lovely sweet cat when she is with humans and she certainly had me thinking she was having a hard time with the other cats,  but Polly winds the others up quite a bit and I think they just had enough.  Any cat that comes through the cat flap Polly gives a little bash round the head,  she is always growling at the others under her breath (so to speak),  Polly was demanding my attention and because I felt bad for her I was always pandering to her and letting her sit on my lap (all evening),  I was always making sure she was getting enough food by feeding her seperately to the others and generally I was making a rod for my own back (and Pollys).  The stuff I read said that I had to give all the cats equal attention,   I had to feed them all at the same time (not if I had kittens) and I had to make time for all of the cats to sit with me and be petted.  (common sense really but I was being too overprotective about Polly).  After a few weeks of treating them all the same and not having just Polly on my lap at night and making her muck in with the rest at food time the bullying stopped,  Polly is now happy and the other cats are happy.

The strange cat in the garden I am not sure what you can do about,  I would try and see who it belonged to,  have you seen the cat before ?,  do you think it could be a stray ?

Advice wanted please
« Reply #1 on: July 31, 2009, 09:55:20 AM »
Hello everyone. I am  a new member with 10 cats. Most of which are ex-feral and now tame. They all get on with each other in the house but when they are outdoors the Siamese (not pure bred ex-feral) always picks on my gentle 3 year old tabby and white Tabitha. I noticed a strange cat in our garden last night. To my horror I saw the Siamese (Meesy) go up and start on Tabitha, she ran off into the field which backs onto my house), I ran out after her and heard her scream and to my horror this strange cat had attacked her. I called for her and she came and ran into the house terrified - that cat had scratchedher underneath her eye and it was bleeding. I bathed it and calmed her down and she is OK now but I am frightened to let her out now and don't understand why they pick on her. Can anyone advise me with htis please. I have had her since she was four weeks old and It breaks my heart to see htis happening to her. Thank you so much

Lorraine
