To be honest Millys mum I dont think he'll go out nows, i left the door open slightly when Mr came home and he just sat in the doorway! He's going to be a house cat for the time being! I dont think its worth my blood presure!

Its worth trying to keep him indoors, if it doesnt work out in the future then worry about it then. The vet is stupid to say let him out or he will escape/run off

Thanks everyone. We're going to keep him in. He's so scatty sometimes and he's half siamese so has no sense! I think I'm just going to have a word with the owner, not like it will make much difference but its off my chest then! I will post some pics of him soon. He's on my user pic but as a baby baby!

I'd be very careful about letting Binks out until he has been neutered .... once his hormones kick in he will be off looking for love.  Personally I would keep him indoors until he has been done.

Totally agree with Sam's comment....If he goes out before getting neutered there is a very high chance you will lose your babe as they can wander for miles following the scent of an unspayed female! This urge will be kicking in very soon! 

Also whether wrong or right with regards to the dogs its your babe that has been, will be again injured and end up the worse for this...please keep your babe inside until he is much older to atleast defend himself, you are his meowmy and he depends on you to show him the right from wrong etc. His instincts need time to mature and kittens are very clumsy when first let out....You are not being cruel by not letting him out yet, I have loads of cats that used to be outdoor cats and have now accepted and come to love being indoor only!

If it is communal land I don't think the RSPCA would get involved. We have two dogs which I think are badly treated two doors down, don't get walked etc, but RSPCA visited and as they are fed, sheltered and have access to water, there is nothing they can do. I don't know what to suggest except have your boy neutered and try to cat proof the garden so that he can't come into contact with the dogs, not ideal..........but...... or consult a Solicitor, see what you can do legally?

With regards to your neighbours dogs ... that fact that they are trained "killers / ratters" they should NOT be allowed to free roam anywhere near other pets. They will attack anything that corsses their path and if it runs it will encourage them to attack even more.  I don't blame the dogs ... they are doing what they are trained to do .. I do however blame the owner for being irresponsible.  If you don't feel able to speak to them directly I would contact the RSPCA and explain the situation to them.

I really think you need to keep him in now -these dogs will do some serious harm to him if they see him again -he has been lucky this time , but might not be next time.
That guy needs sorting/reporting and his dogs are a menace and should not be out free roaming 
There is also some    idiot who spoils where you live !

We asked the vet and she said he needed to go out asap when we took him last ( she said if not it would be he was escaping if he got out and may not come back?Ii've always had dogs, but spaniels not horrible terriers!) so we were going on what they said. How old should he be? They work together as they were bread to hunt and are taken out rabbiting etc, but the rabits around where we live are about as big as cats. Its private land for 2 miles around but our landlords land (he's on holiday, sods law) they are about the size of a springer spanel, heinz type dogs (52 varieties!) but its the fact that the man hasn't even ben on to see if he is ok that really wound me up too! I just feel really mean at the prospect of keeping him in now as he likes exploring but I dont really have any other option

By law dogs are not allowed to be free roaming on public land, so you have some rope with that bit. Part of the problem is his size, 5 months is too young to be going out, he isnt big enough to fend for himself  imo he needs to be kept in until bigger and really if the dogs are that way then are going to pose a threat to an adult cat, if they work as a pack damage can be done  are they smaller jrt types or borders?

We don't have a garden as such. Its communal land you see. The guy who's dogs they are does hoever have his own fenced off bit, which he surely could use? Its just realy shaken him (and me!) and its so mean to keep him in as he loves the outside bt dont think he'll be in a hurry to go out!

Hi sorry to hear about Binks but glad hes okay   have you thought about cat proofing your garden so he can go out but will be safe from the dogs,as for  your neighbours dogs  they shouldnt be allowed to roam free as they are not under control

Hi! My little man is now 5 months and we've been gradually letting him out. Decided to let him out properly for the first time today. I went out to my Mum's and left the Mr looking after sonny Jim. Got a call 2 mins after had left, two dogs had mauled poor Binks (baby's name) had shaken him, and he'd run off. 1hour of searching I finally got back, 2 mins and little man comes out for his mummy (just shows he's a ladies man) He's ok, eating, drinking, a little nip on his paw and generally shaken up but ok. He's being looked over tomorrow. The only thig is, I dont know what to do. I live in a row or cottages (8 in total) in the middle of nowhere and half the appeal was moving so Binks could have a whale of a time exploring the miles of countryside. The guy in question whos dogs (2 terriers) got my baby hasn't even had the courtesy to appologies or come see if he is ok. He lets his dogs roam free, even though the go ratting. Binks was near our house and I wondered if anyone knows what I should do? In a bit of a muddle as its as I say only 8 houses here but also if we report him he knows exactly where thats come from if the RSPCA come a knocking! Dunno if anyone can help but just wondered if anyone had been in a situation similar? Or could offer an opinion?
