Sometimes its worth removing any little bell  - Chloe was an adult when she moved in here but had never worn a collar.  The bell frightened her, but not the actual collar.  Now she is so laid back about it, she has an array of bells and tags and doesnt mind at all - in fact I swear she "jangles" them to let us know she is on he way for a cuddle  :evillaugh:

Same for Mr T - at first he wasnt sure but now he is right as rain  :)

If he's trying to bite it off then it's probably on too loose anyway?

I don't think our Samson had ever worn a collar before we got him but we wanted him to wear one as our cat-flap is magnetic.  It's a quick release one and he managed to get it off a couple of times but once we found the right tightness for it then he's not bothered with it at all.  He does sometimes try and catch the magnetic mouse thing in his mouth sometimes though.  He's not managed it yet but it's funny to watch.

caoimhe (grey one) wears hers all the time, as she is the big girl (1 year old) lughaidh only wears it about an hour a day just to get used to it. I worry about leaving it on constantly as he tries to bite it off himself  is it too early to start training him to be ok with it?

Lovely pic  :Luv2:
Can i add that kittens really dont need to wear collars til they are 6 months or so, pet shops have recently started cashing in selling smaller 'kitten collars' (not all with safety release either  >:( )

Years ago I used to foster ..... sometimes a new cat would have a go at a cat already with us.

And the fur would really fly!!

You would expect to see two bald cats afterwards, but we never did.  And they quickly settled down  ;)

they were sleeping like that, the flash camera woke them up, but in typical cat style, as soon as i finished taking the photo they went back to sleep. i think i've been blessed, they have been truly a pleasure to each other, making my life soooo much easier, won't be long before i can leave them alone overnight unsupervised.

i was just worried because i've never had more than one cat and so didn't really know they played rough like that.

Our two cats Chloe 17 and Mr T 16 would never sit side by side like that for a photo and yet they are Aunty and nephew  ;)

They get along fine - just dont spend much time actually together .

Lovely picture and if they are happy to sit together like that, I don't think you have much to worry about

yeah Lughaidh (god of light) and Caoimhe (beautiful, loved one) here's a better look at them, as the video is blurry.

they knacker each other out, so they settle down, groom each other and then sleep for a couple of hours. Can't believe they were only introduced a couple of days ago.

Caoimhe (keevee) and Lughaidh (Looey). So its nothing to worry about? I never hear them hiss or anything, i guess i'm just being an overprotective parent!

It does come across as quite aggressive behaviour if you havnt seen it before, as WC says it never hurts to ask  ;D

Thanks  :)  And I should have said Welcome to Purrs  :)

I don't think you have anything to worry about - as long as there is no blood!!

Better to be a bit over cautious than not - we all have to start somewhere and far better to come and ask questions than risk problems or a sick kitty

They are very pretty cats  :)

I think they are probably working out boundaries - looks like fairly normal cat play to me  :)

How do you say their names - I guess they are Irish ?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EDA5OxaXWp4

these are my 2 kitties, introduced a couple of days ago (on fri) i posted a question and got a good response which made me feel better, but i just wanted to get a second opinion on this because as the days have gone by they seem to be playing more and more violently.

in the video above, is this normal playing? or a bit too rough? is it fighting?
