Hi

Just to update you on Maggie, we transferred her to the St Helen's CP Adoption Centre to see if that would get her a home as she had been with us so long. Their vet recommended that she had an outdoor home as he felt she wouldn't settle in a residential home. She had unfortunately blotted her copy book at the centre and reverted to being fairly aggressive again as she was when she first came in to us. However the good news is that Maggie now has a new home at some riding stables which had been looking for a new cat. We feel that this could be a good compromise as there will be enough people around to give her affection should she want it and she will be well looked after but plenty of space and hiding places should she wish to be anti-social  :evillaugh: We hope that given time she will want to interact with people again and we've asked to be kept informed of her progress. It wasn't exactly the outcome we wanted for her but given where she came from it is still a much better life for her.

Thanks for putting her on as a special cat. I will ask Tan to take her off the front page now.  :thanks:

Maggie a special cat in need of a special home

Maggie is a beautiful brown tabby lady of approximately 4 years old who came into Gateshead Cats Protection in March 2008 having just become a Mum to 5 beautiful kittens who were all rehomed last summer. Actually she was having her kittens on the kitchen floor when two of our volunteers had gone to take back a male cat we'd had neutered and her owners told us to take them straight away which we did.
Maggie likes nothing more than a head rub and human attention. Sadly she came from a very dysfunctional multi-cat household which has affected her behaviour. We don't know what she has experienced in the past but we know it won't have been good so naturally she has her times when she doesn't trust people.

Initially as a new Mum she was very aggressive. With time and patience and lots of work by her foster mum her behaviour has much improved, but she still has a tendency to occasionally scratch and bite ankles, although this is happening less frequently. She likes people but her mixed experience in the past causes her to behave in this way.

Maggie needs a permanent new start in life, a home without pets or children. She needs an experienced owner who can give her the attention, time and love she deserves after a bad start in life. She needs someone who will restore her trust in people and be prepared to work with her and let her settle in her own time and not be put off by any of her occasional bad behaviour.
We would be prepared to home out of our area if the right person came along as long as we could get a home check done.

If you think you could offer Maggie the home she deserves please PM me, she has been in our care over a year now and we would love to find her a new forever home.
