Glad to hear he's peeing ok now  Ben didnt need to be flushed after the first procedure with the catheter, so here's hoping Monkey won't need further procedures.

another update hes been back to our normal vets today for a check up.

she said his bladder is still very full so emptied it for us 3 trays later he is fine, the results shown strauvite (sp) crystals so he is on s/d food. he has to go back again on monday to see if there is any improvement so fingers and toes crossed.

he is definatly peeing on his own now more of a trickle than a stream but its alot better than it was.

chances are he may have to have it flushed again and this time shes quoted me £150/200 which is still alot but hes def worth it. and hes had a steroid shot too just to help him a bit.

ok a little update.

He is eating and weeing, only little little amounts of wee wee but he is getting there, has eaten his food with the meds in it. :)

still waiting for the results but yes they were def a "pooey lot" of crystals as the vet quite nicely put it lol

still not seen him drink, however have left bowls around the house so he may have. his stomach still looks very hard and soild

Those meds should stop him reblocking, have you tried offering him normal wet food?
Did he have crystals or is he an idipathic case?
Fingers crossed he pees a good size soon

It was Ben actually  ;) (I know I talk about Sam a lot LOL!) - but anyway, he didnt eat the prescription food, but I'd researched the condition a lot by then, and just started feeding him ordinary wet food (high meat content - no cereals etc) and then raw.

Ben only had the catheter in from when I took him in (3 a.m!) until I picked him up later that day - he hadnt peed at the vets, but did when he came home, although he was still sore and uncomfortable, I could tell. They usually like them to go home asap as they are more relaxed and more likely to pee normally, but definitely keep any eye on him, as Den says, they can block again, although Ben never did.

I don't like the sounds of your vets. I would monitor him closely. He might not have anything in him to wee out. If you get worried take him in. Unfortunately it's an expensive condition, I was shocked with memphs bill.

Memphis stopped weeing properly about 4 days or so after he came home. He had a long acting painkiller which was wearing off, as a result he was finding it uncomfortable to pass urine and felt like he needed to go a lot .. Due to the crystals irritating his bladder lining. As soon as he had a painkiller top up he was back to normal.

Gillian said her Sam wouldn't eat the prescription food. I hand fed Memphis which got him to eat it, then he would wolf it down.

just rang them back.

the woman looked at the notes and he was last fed at 6pm last night and was eating and drinking well. she said he may just not be hungry and to monitor him throughtout the day and if its still no better this evening then to ring them back.

arghh

I just googled and they are anti spasm meds. I think I would phone the vets if I was you, im surprised he's out of the vets so soon. It's recommended the catheter is in place for 2-4 days. This is my experience and what karenjet and Leanne had with their kitties if I remember correctly.

:( poor Monkey, maybe the meds and everything are making him feel a bit off it too, I'd probably see how he goes and if he's still not eating later and you are worried get back on to the vets

What meds does he have? There is a strong risk of reblocking after the catheter comes out. I ring the vet if you are worried about anything. There was a thread very recently about Karenjets Belle who was nearly blocked but received the same treatment as my boy who got blocked.

ok so im a little worried now and advice would be lovely.

he isnt himself at all which is quite understandable. but he is NOT eating. the vets gave us hills prescription food and advised us to put the meds into it (apparently he was doing it fine at the vets) but he wont do it with us.

had to hold him and put them down his throat earlier and i think the stress of it made him have a pee on my foot

i have him in the spare bedroom with plenty of water a litter tray his food and a quilt just purely so he can rest. but when i stroked him he meowed as if to say thats well sore. and when he went into his tray he wasnt weeing just squatting until i stroked him then he weed a little but it seemed to be me that was making him if that makes sense?

i really dunno what to do, rang the vet and they said try tempting him with some meat so i have some cornedbeef which he loves but totally refused??

HELP

hes poorly bless him :'(

he has a blocked bladder so was rushed in at 11pm last night to the emergency vet and was flushed out and sorted. £350 later we now realise insurance might have been a good idea :tired:

picking him up in a bit, hes had his catheter out and had a few pee pees himself which is cool
