Well Bex has arrived and is very very cute i think i shall kidnap him off my sis  ;)
The only thing now is her other cat Sox who is 8 months old absolutely hates him, as soon as she sees him she hisses, growls and then runs upstairs ( i think she's crossed with a dog) i've never seen a cat act like that before so we're just hoping she gets used to him  :scared:

imo 6wks is way two young to be taken from mum but as a few others have said here it is better that it goes to someone who will care and nurse it poor little mite :Luv2:

What is happening with the other kittens?

Good luck with the kitten who knows you may take two they would be company for one and other at such a young age

If the kitten cant stay with mum longer then please take straight to a vet for a check over and advice, they are vunerable at that age and more than likely its comming from a less than savoury place  :(
Also try to find out if mum is going to be done and provide numbers if they need help with neutering costs  ;)

Its not ideal but they can survive absolutly fine. Pagan was just over 6 weeks old and obviously well looked after. Very healthy and eating kitten food. There has been no repurcussions from it. However if i had the choice i would have got her at 8 weeks. But it was a question of that or loose her.

My cousin was put in a similar situation with her first cat. She was training in nursing and one of the requirements is to go on rounds with a midwife. One of the houses she went to had a cat with kittens, and as she had decided to get a cat she thought she'd give one of these little ones a home. (Part of the reason being she felt the animal care in the house wasn't up to scratch.)

She chose a kitten, then got a call when they were six weeks saying if she didn't collect that day the kitten would be giving to someone else. She knew they were too young but was also aware if she didn't take the little one there was no guarantee it would end up with someone who would love it as much as her. When she got to the house, the lady had given away the kitten she'd chosen anyway.....but she came home with a lovely black and white tom who is utterly spoilt and very much a part of her family.

She did have to give him milk substitute for a few weeks after she got him, on the advice of her vet so that might be something your sister should look into.

He's two now and is a lovely lad. :)

This is what we thought she has another cat that's 8 months old so it won't be lonely hopefully and he will be very well looked after (SPOILT)

Too young unfortunately. Even if a kitten is on solids at six weeks, they usually still feed from their mums from some degree for another couple of weeks. Taking them any earlier than the minimum (eight weeks) can have psychological ramifications. (And sometimes physical ones.)

However, if the "breeder" *coughs* is adamant he's going to let them go that young, it's better the kitten goes to someone to put the extra work in.

tbh I'd probably avoid someone like this, it will only encourage them to do it again - I know its hard not to get involved though

I phoned someone a few weeks ago about a kitten and he said they are 5 weeks, I said so its going to be another few weeks before they can go then. He said well no as soon as they are eating they can go

I think these so called breeders need to learn a bit about what they are breeding before they actually start.

But saying that I have had all of my kittens from 6-7 weeks old and with the right care, they are fine  :)
Just because your out of sight, does not mean your out of mind <3

Hi me again looking for some words of wisdom ;)
My sis is due to pick her new kitten next week but these babies will be only 6 weeks old i thought they had to be 8 weeks old to leave their mum.I mentioned this to my sis and we both said maybe he'll be better off with her so she can care for him.
Is there anything she needs to do or give him as he's so young? the chap who has the kittens reckons they can go as they are fully weaned and using the litter tray
