Oh, I know exactly what you are going through Gillian. When I left work at the Vets, they bought me one of these as part of my very generous leaving present and the kitties knocked it off the side and it broke into so many pieces I could not repair it, I was very upset
Treated myself to another one, "Smudge" that I thought was a better shape and more likely to survive but they were obviously jealous of Smudge as well and knocked him off the fireplace
Luckily Smudge has been brought back to health by some superglue and now lives on the radiator cover downstairs, blue tacked in place, out of the range of the kitties as they are not allowed in the hallway.
