It's not odd - I came across the article when I was googling after phoning the vets  :evillaugh: - she does seem a lot better and I really must have missed it when she was at her worst. She followed me up again last night. Didn't get to bed until 2am and had to be up at 6am but she insisted on sitting on my chest

How very odd to read this and then your other post on cystitis Mark....looks like it has worked (the non treatment) with Willow!  ;D

Glad she is feeling better!

cystease (which is what I give) is a capsule. You can either give it whole or add it to wet food. I found that the urinalysis was helpful in that it identified problems (rather than unfortunately, solutions!). My vet said that the cystease or cystaid help calm down the inflammation a little bit that's all.

I am glad to say she is getting better but sorry to say I missed the worst of it. She had peed in one of the bedrooms last night so I got the Karcher out. I found spots of blood in a few places. I checked another carpeted room and found the same. The stuff today was clear. In fact while I was up there shampooing and hoovering, she came looking for me and is all purry and face rubbing after being grumpy for days which I had put down to CRF and meds  :(

According to Cystaid (or cystease, can't remember which) only 1% of cases is bacterial. Another site said that a lot of vets routinely prescribe ABs when it would have gone away in a few days anyway.

Surely systitis needs treatment ASAP and won't go away by itself? -

Actually, yes, most cases of cystitis will clear up on their own without any treatment whatsoever, although vets usually prescribe antibitoics and antispasmodics anyway.

The thing is I was willing to do that but the vet says see how she is over the next couple of days. If I thought it would help I would go and get her some although I am on the verge of giving up my studies as I can't seem to get any revision done. Another problem is getting anything down her. Is it something that goes in the water? - Bearing n mind she only finished ABs last week, I assume the vet thinks it is idiosyncratic?

Sounds like she's in discomfort Mark. Have you got any Cystease or Cystaid to give straight away? I would have thought that the vet may want to give her something to calm down the inflammation at least (?). If it was me, I think I'd just book an appointment and take a urine sample with me too. Hope it clears up asap.

Willow has been doing dribbles of wee all over the place. She peed on OHs bag this morning, carpet and curtains yesterday and my trainers just now. I looked at it and there is jelly in it - I phoned the vet expecting them to say bring her in or at least come over for some meds. The practice manager spoke to the vet but they just said it is probably a bit of mucous from  cystitis and to keep an eye over the next day or two. I queried the advice and said I would bring her over or come for some meds, whatever they wanted. She said she will speak to the vet again and phone me if he says anything different to advice given already. Surely systitis needs treatment ASAP and won't go away by itself? -
