For the last 2 or 3 weeks Basil has been manic and between the hours of 4-7am (sometimes
he goes on a huge bender, he tries to play with the other cats but they can't keep up with him so he comes and finds me and starts gnawing on any available body part so I get up and play. Once he gets fed up with me he goes back to the other cats and starts chasing them about so I can't sleep due to the sounds of skidding, crashing and banging. He goes on little adventures, naming climbing up the curtains, getting stuck then crying til I come get him down. I've had him throw himself at my leg, hold on with all 4 legs and sink his teeth in. I'm even beginning to wonder if he does it on purpose to wake me up so I go play with him.
So for the last week I've been up every morning at 4am playing the Da Bird or Da Mousey trying to tire him out. I even tried having a good long play with him before I went to bed but I just can't tire him out! My floor is littered with cat toys, empty loo rolls, scrunched up bits of tin foil all of which he plays with quite happily during the day but once 4am rolls by he goes crazy, I'm used to cats having mad half hours but his mad half hour lasts 3-4 hours.
Will this calm down once he has had the chop? He is 16 weeks now and my vets won't do him until he 6 months old. The other kitten Baxter is a little crazy but he doesn't have even half the energy or manicness that Basil has, Baxter has been done as he is a little older and was done by the rescue which leads me to think that maybe he will calm down a little.
Sorry for rambling, I don't even think this post has a point as I think I've done everything I can think of to try and tire him out so I can get more than 3 hours sleep, but would appreciate and ideas or even just some assurance that neutering him will calm him down a bit so I can start counting down the days!!
