How to age a rescue cat

As all my guys are rescue the ages have always been rough estimates and with insurance we have never ever had a problem with it being guesstimates

Vets give a guesstimate and get insured asap after, or someone who ha=s owned them may know rough;y how old and just say their guesstimate age and that they came from a rescue or were a stray...........just so that you nothing medically about them and then you are clear with the insurers 

However if they are blind you will have to say or any obvious defect.

When a cat goes into the care of a rescue, it will be vet checked and the vet will give an estimated age often based on teeth as well as general condition. When you rescue your cat, you are told their age and that's what the insurace company are then told. They would have no way of proving otherwise so I woulnd't lose any sleep over it

Am I right in thinking that quite a lot of the cats owned by Purrs posters only have guesstimate ages? how do you go about estimating a cat's age - or is that the vet's job?

and do you give the insurance company the estimated age without explaining it is just a guess? and does that ever cause problems when claiming from them later?
