I've been reading this thread and been unsure what to put. It must be awful not knowing if Monkey is alive or not. I hope he is, and it's just a matter of time before he's home.

3369When my Sox's was involved in an RTA the council picked him up but I wanted to make sure it really was him so I put up posters in the area asking for information.  I had a picture of him and aksed in anyone could positively identify him .... sadly I received 3 phone calls from people who had seen him and all confirmed that as far as they could say the body was his.  Although it broke my heart I was grateful to the lovely kind people who contacted me.  Sadly my boy was knocked down on a Friday ... bin day in our area so the council moved his body really quickly.

I really hope it isn't Monkey but I would get some "Information needed" posters up hun ... someone may have taken the body home and buried him in their garden
In ancient times cats were worshiped as gods; they have not forgotten this.

definitely check with the neighbour re the source of info regarding the cat that was apparently run over.  It may be a case of chinese whispers.  Maybe it was actually a black cat run over a month ago etc.....   Or maybe someone else picked up the cat and took him to a vet or a rescue to be scanned.  Or maybe it was a cat who nearly got run over or did get hit but wasn't badly hurt...  there are so many possible scenarios.  I'm keeping everything crossed that it wasnt' Monkey.

If you can find out exactly where this cat was seen I'd check the nearby bushes etc  Someone might have moved the cat out of sight, still have everything crossed it's not him

I have to say if I saw a dead cat in the road, I would most likely pick it up.

Hope it wasn't him tho

I remove them too  :(
Although I contact all local vets and also have the cat scanned

The council may have been rung but a member of the public could have collected before them, i certainly do. I would run off a batch of posters appealing for info if you cant find out anymore from the neighbour

Yes i think you got to speak again to the person who reported the dead cat, ask them who they rang and if they took a name

Still got my fingers crossed that it wasnt your monkey xx

have rang council and they checked their records for me, nothing has been "cleaned up" in the Shaw area for a while, he said leave it with him whlst he speaks to the out of hours team, who again last had a ginger cat on record back end of febuary in Lees oldham which is a way away and not on the next street.

i asked if they scan for a microchip and they said no they dont  >:(

so who was this cat that got ran over, was it monkey or not? the bloke on the phone said it should really be only the council that picks them up. so he is a little confused too.

i am going to try and speak to the neighbour again and press her for more info
