when tiggy was spayed she pulled her collar off and pulled her stitches out during the first night, the wound looked fine but i took her to the vets the next day and i was told just too put the lampshade back on for 2 days so she didnt lick the wound and open it up, They also use internal stitches aswell but didnt tell me untill she had pulled them out.

I remember Uncle M cutting his paw on some glass once. By the time I got him home from the vets he'd already removed all the stitches!  :)

I agree I wish they would tell peeps the whole story and if they can glue it now why couldnt they have done that in the first place!

I am pleased she is doing well  ;D

She had her check up today and the vet said it's looks good ;D she stuck some glue on the outside anyway as a precaution but she said they apparently do inernal stitches too just in case they take them out :-: wish they'd bothered to tell me on the phone to stop me worrying so much :innocent: never mind!

Still all ok?

Yep, just been out for an hour but just went to check on her and she came to meet me on the stairs :Luv2: and is fine. :) her wound hasn't changed at all, no more swelling, no discharge or anything so i'm happy. ;) Only thing i'm not sure of is if she's been able to get in the litter tray with her collar on... :shify: if i've not actually witnessed her go in there by the time i go to bed i'll take the collar off for a little bit so she can go, bless her. :evillaugh:

I hope everything is OK and the wound is still closed. When my cat Ziggy was spayed the used disoable stiches which was good as I didn't have to worry about her.

Hope the vet goes for that story -

Thats why we always get the glued oiption done - it takes a long time to get some of our ferals and no way will they wear the trumpet and they usually hate us enough by that point!

Good luck

I think for our ferals the dissolvable ones have always been used.

Glad she is ok Beth  :)

Just spoke to the vets, they said what i was hoping for which was just to keep an eye on it and take her up there if there's any problems. :) I didn't blame penguin in t'end, am rubbish at telling porkies, open my mouth and the truth comes out whether i want it to or not. :shy: :evillaugh:

It still looks fine today, ever so slightly swollen, but i'd be shocked if she wasn't tbh, and there's no blood or discharge. Have a checkup booked for friday so i'll bring it forward if i'm worried but otherwise that should be the end of it i hope!

Am considering telling a small porky and saying i left the collar on and saying Penguin must've got them. :shy: :evillaugh:

Poor Penguin getting the blame  :evillaugh: Hope the vets goes well and they can just glue her this time to save her the temptation of pulling them out again!

My Fat Andy took one of her stitches out within hours of being back from the vet.  i was told that as long as the wound wasn't weeping then it would be ok. and it was.

why don't vets use those body stocking bandages they use now in the States - animals tolerate them much better than those silly collars

my Siamese removed her stitches too, Beth, and the wound stayed closed, but I think they were in for 48 hours or so

 can't believe it, i've been supervising her all day and she's paid no attention to her wound, i come downstairs for 5 minutes and they're gone! :-[ Do i need to worry? The would is still together and looks very neat - no bleeding or anything, and she's removed them very neatly and not irritated the wound... so should i contact the vets in the morning? They're so gonna tell me off for taking the collar off... :-[ :shify:
