I was at the vets paying off a bill when someone came in with a kitten they had found. He was so adorable I wanted to snap him up there and then! A local rescue had already been informed he was there so called to see if we could home him. We went home all excited because of the incoming bundle of fluff but got disappointed when we heard his owner had come forward. As she told us about him she asked if we would be interested in another kitten who was a bit skittish as he had been abandoned at 6 weeks. So we went to meet him and while we were there looking at one we couldn't help but notice another bouncing about demanding attention and cuddles. We were told that Merlin (now Baxter) was great with cats and had a special bond with Bubbles(now Basil) he just hated humans but because they weren't from the same litter she wasn't homing them together. Naturally we brought both home, hoping that Basil would help Baxter settle in.
Baxter hid for a couple of hours but decided to make an appearance when he realised there was food here! Basil took a little sniff about and then promptly came and sat on my lap. We were defiantly right in taking them both, Baxter may be terrified of us and shoot of if we get within a 3 foot radius but basil is great and bringing him out to play. Charley has been great with the kittens, he adores them and follows them about everywhere, Garfield is a bit more reserved preferring to watch from afar then going up for a sniff, but he even gives Basil a bath after dinner. My introductions never go as planned as I tend to rely on instinct but its all worked out so far. I just make sure that if one of us is playing with the kittens that the other is petting Charley or Garf so they don't get jealous.
Be warned as I have never had kittens (OH has though) so expect lots of nervous mummy talk over next couple of weeks!!
Pics to follow if I ever get my camera back from my sister.
