Fingers crossed - I am lucky at my vets, it costs about £6 for the litter and testing (or at least it did 2 years ago, which is the last time I had to do it!!)

Good luck with the wee collection 

My boy won't go any where near that special litter, I end up sticking a shot glass under the stream when he's in the tray, thats my tried and tested way of getting a sample

Back from the vets the blood test was £94, also to have her wee looked at, I've been given special litter to put down which I can then collect the wee from. 

In the past I used an empty litter or one full of cotton wool balls and squeezed them, how things have changed.  I thought that would be a couple of pounds this was £22

She was so well behaved, typical placid Raggie.

precisely, I just want to know the internal bits are ok, my husband says I worry to much.  But when you've had two cats die from kidney disease you get a bit jumpy.

I'm not going to tell you how much Shadow's blood tests are going to set me back - but I can only wish they were £80!!! Still, if we love 'em we have to pay for their health, well-being and (in this case) travel plans ...

Mine get the most expensive blood tests the vet does, which I think I pay about £80 for - it is only once a year, and I Would rather pay a few pounds a month and know they are in good health than to have one of them ill and no idea of their internal health. You might be able to get the insurance company to pay, I dont claim mine unless they show a health issue.

I agree re testing cost varying. Last year, we took in a stray with a bad eye who was handed into a Canterbury vet known for being expensive. The vet was really stroppy as we declined her offer of doing a Chlamydia test for £110  - we took the cat to one of our regular vets and she was given antibiotics and was fine in a couple of days. 

I'm sure we paid about £70 for a full profile a couple of years ago.

Excellent, if you do have to do regular blood testing its great to have it, with Max we're doing testing every 3 months or so, together with urine sampling too, and the costs really can mount up without realising when you pay a little bit here, and a little bit there

I can't remember how much Max's were last year, but I ran full bloods on him as we was drinking more, so guess they tested liver, kidney and thyroid etc, seem to recall it was somewhere between £70-£100.

The kidney results are normally done in-house, but the thyroid ones are sent away.

you're probably better off ringing the vets, prices seem to vary so much - I think I have the most expensive vet on purrs!!

A general health check, being paronoid about my cats health recently and her poor weight. 
She is a rehomed cat, so I do not know her age, her medical history so when I was worried about her last time the vets suggested a blood test.  so for peace of mind I thought I would go for it

Yup agree with Sheryl, it really does depend on what they are tesing for.
