I have a leather sofa, armchair & dining chairs & mine are all ok, but I do trim their claws & they do have many scratching trees.

I have been told that polishing the furniture with wax does protect it from the little darlings......

Ollie has destroyed a set of wooden drawers in the bedroom - I don't have anything that is leather/faux leather just now to see what he would be like with it.    He is a bit of a vandal.  I can't buy wooden furniture anymore - everything has to be chrome etc now in case he wrecks it.

I think it depends on the cat, neither Daisy, Belle or Meeko have ever scratched the sofa. Tigger, however, totally destroyed one and is halfway through another  :tired:

That's really good then - I wasn't sure if they would scratch at them or not.  Something for me to think about then as I don't think I can afford to buy the dining chairs I really want and replace my kitchen - something has to give and the kitchen is much more important.

My new sofa has a faux leather back an as of yet we have had no scratching. Interesting as the old real leather suite got trashed!

I am needing to buy new dining chairs but the really nice fabric ones I seen are too expensive - I have seen really nice faux leather ones.   Does anyone have leather/faux leather seats and have they survived with having cats?   I'm not sure whether they would shred them or not - or if I'm better just saving up to get the fabric ones.
