My youngest frequently stares at a blank wall/ceiling and makes an excited yelping noise - freaked me out for ages, until I realised she was besotted by cobwebs  (note to self - must do more housework :-[).

On a serious note though, I am convinced that one of my present cats saw the spirit of Smudge, who passed away almost 4 years ago now.  I didn't really believe in the afterlife until then, but I have felt his presence and heard what I believe is him several times since.  On this occasion, the day he was cremated, I heard purring coming from his favourite doughnut bed, so I stroked the air and talked to him - meantime, one of the others sneaked into the room and polished off his crunchies (which I hadn't had the heart to remove).  'Jasmine' looked up, stared at the bed with the biggest eyes and outstretched neck you have ever seen, looked terribly guilty and in a low crouch and tail between the legs, crept out of the room very, very slowly.  I'll never forget it.

Lol - that's ace.

I've often wondered with one of my cats if he senses something - as quite often he will act a little strange.   I've seen us sitting in the livingroom and Ollie has started making a growling type noise whilst staring down the hallway.   He often just sits staring (which looks to me like a blank space) - but think quite often it is do with the lighting in a room.   He meows at a certain cupboard a lot.   It can spook me out as I live on my own and I never know if they're doing it because there is an actual person there or a spook.

We have a ghost in our bedroom.

An old man - I assume he lived here at some point - oldish house.  You don't see him, exactly, more sense him - occasionally I see him out of the corner of my eye, but if you look directly he's gone.  Though once he came right up behind me in the middle of the night & scared the heck out of me, he's harmless.  All the cats see him.  One of them purrs at him (George who purrs when anybody looks at him).

My parents in law have an 18th century lodge house that has something nasty in one of the attic bedrooms.  Presumably something unhappy.  It was a poltergeist, but has been exorcised twice.  Now it just stares at you when you're trying to get to sleep, till you tell it very firmly to go away.  They're cat isn't really allowed upstairs, but if he manages to sneak up he hisses and screeches at it (or as close to a cat screching I've ever heard).

watched part of one set a dover castle once - one  of the live ones (except repeated so not live).  Derek thingummy described how he could see a 17th century pikeman carrying a pike on his shoulder, down a passage...  Except I've been in that passage, and it's only ten feet high - you couldn't carry any pole weapon down there - and a pike is 16ft long....   Ho hum....

We have "ghost cat" who I have tripped over (and apologised to  :evillaugh: )

I am very skeptical but had a few experiences with him/her. I would like to say it's my imagination but happened quite a few times - even OH as had experiences. Not sure if it is from a previous owner or strayed from next door. As some know, I live next door to a vet. The other day, I went in to ask if the vet could move his range rover. The receptionist said that he was in the middle of a PTS and would move it when he was done. She went downstairs - so in otherwords, animals are PTS no more than 10ft from where I am sitting. Even if you believe it is true, it's not scary as animals are welcome here  :Luv2:

I haven't had any definate paranormal behaviour on behalf of any of my living kitties......Instead I have a bridge babe who visits!

He is the only sprit that is welcomed into our house with open arms, To see Smudge around comforts me and especially as he has chosen to be RW's guardian angel is even better!  :Luv:

Both my partner and I are pshycially inclined, which is not a good thing in Portsmouth....An area that is so inclined towards the bad edge of human behavior attacts quite a bit of malevolence (for example the cemetary at the end of the road hosts a maleovent gestalt entity that is a right insidious sod!) and 'Shadows'  (beings of negative influence)  that cause those periods of time where fights break out in the street, etc (you know what I mean  ;)) There are a few nice spirits around- the lot in the jewish cemetary are a happy bunch  :)

Anyway, the protection around our house is so stong that nothing can get in...thats the way it's got to be around here. Keli is our resident familiar and will occasionally react to 'something' walking in the street outside the window (and yes it's not corporeal), but apart from that all my experiences are outside the house.....

In our old house all our cats use to always stare at the same corner of the ceiling so there must have been something or someone there, in our new house nothing.

I dont think my cats have ever seen anything, well maybe Macey but she is just loopy anyway  :evillaugh: Although I do believe I have seen things myself. When I lived in the flat I used to have lots of candles around my fire and would light them most nights, I used to see shadows in the kitchen and I thought there was a presence there. This is strange because I went to see a clairvoyant and she said that my Nan visits me when I have the candles on around the fire. I also believe I seen my puss cat that went to the bridge when I lived there.  :Luv:

When I moved into my house now I was told people dont stay here for long, moving in and out within a matter of months. I have always felt there is a spirit here. This was confirmed to me when I received a letter for a previous occupant, asking could she take the ornaments from her babies grave so they could tidy the memorial garden up.

I believe this spirit has made previous people move out and now since I have moved in the little one is happy as I have kids myself, and I believe he or she is happy being here with us as a family and they dont feel threatened by us in anyway.

I hope this little one is finally settled now.  :)

Sound interesting.  I think we all know they sense things when we are ill or stressed out etc. but as for seeing/hearing spirits etc. I've never given it a thought.... before now.  I'll look out for anything.

I believe animals can sense *something* but I don't know what

I don't believe in hollywood style woo woo ghosts but I do believe that spirits exist. My old dog used to howl for 3 days straight before someone we knew died... he never howled at any other time but he did for an Uncle and two friends, one of which he never met and wasn't ill (was an accident at work) so not like he could pick up vibes

so far the cats haven't reacted oddly to anything

none of my animals has ever shown the slightest sensitivity, even in houses where there was a presence. Shadow even slept through an earthquake while we were in NZ - it is a great disappointment to me ...

I've experienced some strange behavior with my parents dog. There was a time when he wouldn't stop barking at a certain corner of our house and his bristles were up n the back of his neck, when I walked over it was really cold and I felt a little unsettled for a few seconds before it passed away, so I don't know what that was about, lol. I tend to think animals can sense things that we can't.

Was wondering if any other peeps who believe in the paranormal sense that their cat can see things.

I am psychic myself & have some weird happenings at  of the houses I have had. I only allow protected love & light to enter so deffo no negative entity.. I know I know.. sounds loopy but it happens.. a gift.

At my new house I have had for the last 6 months it has been quite quiet until the last few weeks. I asked for proof of presence & always I get it.

My taps upstairs & downstairs have been turning themselves on when I'm not even near a sink. As far as I can tell they have been turned off quite tightly by me.

I accepted if that was a sign then so be it.. in fact I encourage it, it gives me comfort & am not frightened.

Then one day when the downstairs tap turned on Koko my Burmese sat on the table right up facing the wall with his back to me and was scanning the wall & ceiling as thought he was following something around. He stayed in that position for ages.

Poppy my 4yr old BSH blue did this at the other house & she talked to the wall as though she could see something moving.

Have you had any experiences like this. Would be interested in your stories.
