We can sometimes forget how many good and decent people there are. Tales like Galileo's are a great reminder  :thanks:

Kitty Galileo's now been home for over a week.  It's like he's never been gone.

He and his brother have been chipped but not yet neutered (their time is coming.  The "axeman" waiteth!).  Everybody is happy.

My next task is to go around and take down the "Found" posters that we posted after Kitty Galileo was returned home.  We wanted people to know he'd been found so I designed a different looking poster with a different headline that had the story of how he was found.  While we were putting those up, people stopped to tell us how they'd been looking out for Galileo and were glad we'd found him.  I also received some e-mail later from people who had seen the "Found" posters.  It's a happy ending to a scary tale.

Hes plenty big enough to be chipped and also neutered, certainly consider a chip sooner rather than later, its a quick procedure thats done whilst you wait, hes a very handsome cat  :Luv2:

SO GLAD HE IS HOME. :cheer: :cheer:

Deff get him chipped asap (can be done anytime)...and you might find your vet with neuter him now if his "bits" are big enough

that's wonderful - and it gives so much hope to others when the hard work of leafleting and postering pays off

I have good news: Kitty Galileo has been returned to us!

We were just about to go out to do more leafletting and postering.  I stopped to visit the bathroom.  Good thing I did!  Someone banged on the door.  It was a man with Kitty Galileo in hand.

He'd apparently seen Galileo previously a few days ago, but hadn't yet seen one of my posters.  He saw a poster at his mother's (or maybe mother-in-law's?) who is in sheltered accommodation across from us.  It was one of the posters from Sunday afternoon that had our address on it.  He was on his way today to visit his mother/MIL and saw the kitten again.  This time he scooped the kitten up, praying it wasn't someone else's, popped Galileo in his van, and came right over.

We're so glad.  He wouldn't even take a reward.  Heck, we didn't even catch his name, although we know the unit number of his mother/MIL and her name.  We'll see if we can figure out which building for sure and we'll definitely be giving her at least some flowers for raising her son right!

Kitty Galileo didn't seem particularly hungry.  He has eaten and has some water, but he wasn't ravenous.  He basically looks OK, except for possibly a bit of an eye infection/eye irritation.  His lids look kind of pink to me.  We're taking him to the vet's tomorrow to be checked over.  Other than that, he doesn't seem any worse for the wear.

We're celebrating with Thai food for us, DentaBits (AKA Kitty Crack) for the cats, and an evening spent notifying all the vets, shelters, forums, registries, etc.  I'll probably make up a "Galileo Is Home" poster and post that in place of the "Lost" poster tomorrow so people know he's been found.

Thanks, everyone, for your support!

because he's so young, and so handsome, there must be a good chance someone is looking after him, so knocking on doors might well find him

here's hoping big time

I'm sorry to welcome you to Purrs at a time of such worry, Eingang.  Do check out the tips in the link Gill posted and do knock on neighbours' doors as well as putting up posters and going out calling for him late at night: he may not respond to his name yet but he will recognise your voices.

He is stunning -  :Luv:

I hope you find him soon, you must be worried sick.
When he is back, although too young to be neutered he isn't too young to be mirco-chipped so it might be best to get him done asap

Good luck xx

:welcome: to Purrs, sorry that Galileo is missing and as he is unneautered is likely to be off on a spree and could wander a long way.

Here are the things we recommend you try doing to find him and flyers and posters are very very important and need to be done fast

I hope you find him soon cos he is really sweet

Lost 4-Month-Old Red n White Tabby SE12 London Lee Nov 15th FOUND

Galileo (October 2009)
Lost: Kitty Galileo
Date: Sunday afternoon, November 15th, 2009
Location: Lee (SE12) London, near E.A. Nesbitt Park

Description:
Kitty Galileo is a pretty 4-month-old kitten, with medium-long fluffy fur.  He's predominantly red with a white chest and paws.  He's a tabby and has the tabby "M" partially visible on his face.  He's quite big for a kitten and probably weighs about 2.5 kilograms.

Distinguishing Marks:
His face is his most distinguishing feature.  He has a white inverted T extending across his cheeks up to his forehead.  He also has a red triangular patch below his nose to his chin.  You may also notice that he has a lot of hair -- hair in his ears, on his feet, etc.

Other Information:
Kitty Galileo was too young to be chipped or neutered. He's just turned 16 weeks old.  He does not have a collar as he's not supposed to be outside of the house or garden.  We believe he managed to leap the 6-foot back garden fence on the Millbank Crown Estate while playing tag with his brother when they were left unsupervised for a short period of time.

He does not respond well to his name yet.  He's prone to "chirp"ing.
