Males tend to be more laid back in their own home. I'll give you a little account of my experience with my little group:

Bourneville (m) was here first, we got Marble (f) as a friend for him. Even as a little kitten, she quickly asserted her dominance and became top cat and Bourneville just accepted it. Then Soap (f) kitten came along and there was (and still is) a power struggle between her and Marble - feliway and kalm aid helped but they will never be friends. Again,Bourneville just accepted Soap. Then the twins (both m) came along and joined with problem. They helped by taking a little of Soap's negative attention away from Marble and they all play together (the young ones).

Personally, I would say boy. I know your trying to even up the numbers but i think Ella would prefer to stay "top girl"

Not trying to detract from our wonderful covcats but rspca bedford have also agreed to homing in MK. They have are 2 year old grey female (recently had kittens and might be the one with only one eye). She is currently living with other cats but can be a bit of a madam apparently so may not be so good with Ella. They then have lots of kittens plus more cats up at a cattery in Peterborough. Just in case covcats dont have enough to tempt you lol!

I have to say I would suggest a boy as well. Our group has never been the same since Soap joined us (i hate to say it) but the twins joining caused little to no problems. Just saying

Blimey didn't realise Polly was still there

She was found with kittens in my brother's shed. A cat loving neighbour had been feeding her for some time as Polly was not being looked after as far as she could tell. My brother couldn't take them on having 3 gingers of his own so Covcats came to the rescue. She's a beautiful girl.

Actually, yes, a boy addition does have merit (from she who has only one elderly lady cat and six bouncy boy cats). Boys do tend to wear one another out - instead of wearing YOU out

Oh choices choices. I envy your position and wish it were me, searching for that forever friend. Sadly we're over-full now and one more would tip the balance to make it unpleasant for all, otherwise...

I know you have your hearts set on a playful young girl but I can just see Bertie and Archie having a whale of time together. Bertie is so playful

I was wondering if a slightly older cat might be better for Archie, hmmm, scratches chin..

If Archie needs better cat manners, a recent "mum" might be ideal for him. She could teach him to be gentle, but still be young and strong and playful enough to enjoy his energy, but not put up with any

Not sure whether Hazel will have had time to recover from her latest brood to compete with a feisty adolescent teenager yet. Angie will know best, but Hazel does sound pretty perfect.

I agree, Hazel has a peacefulness about her but I bet she's a plotter.

My Cassie was a tortie, very similar to Hazel, and was the most intelligent cat I ever owned, full of fun and always sooo loving. She was a loyal sister to Beau who adored her.

Hazel looks gorgeous - SO like a cat I had years ago called Morrissey. Torties can be a bit bonkers - I think Archie would have a lot of fun with her!

No, the manager of the north beds branch. They don't have a centre and have to rely on a group of fosterers. I know they have quite a few cats (and other animals) at the moment.

Being from Bedford, I know the CP and they are quite strict on areas unfortunately. I'm quite friendly with the RSPCA lady (she used to be a vn at my vets), I could have a word with her for you, Si, if you like?

Well as you probably know Sean and I went to see Tilly today and although she was totally beautiful, we felt as a slightly longer haired pedigree she wasn't right for us. She was probably about the right age range and was female but we both agreed that we would continue our search. However what it has cemented is that we would like another cat to join our family.

We would really like a female and as you can probably tell a DSH around 4-6 months would suit us. I think an older cat may not warm to Archie's playful nature. Ella is very laid back and loves other cats,

Archie is a bit of a livewire so we think a female similar age to him would be suitable, Ella has grown out the play fighting stage and Archie desperately wants to play mate for that. We have enough room as we have a 3 bed house ina quite close with plenty of exploring space. I think anyone that knows me knows that any cat that does come here would be idolised and loved. The only thing Sean has said, which is a bit sad but I undertsand, is that he would struggle with a black cat as she would have too many memories of Effie. This is hard as I know black cats get overlooked but I really feel he would struggle.

Any cat would have to like other cats as there is a little clique of about six cats that seem to play together in our road, all very harmoniously. They would have outside access but not a cat flap as Ella (and Effie ) only went out at evening and weekends and that has worked for us and them.

As a member of purrs it has really hit us recently how many cats need homes and this is why we have spoken about getting another. As Sean and I would probably find it medically impossible to have kids together, this is the closest we will get!

So if you hear of any one you think might be suitable
