Aww, the poor baby. I would have thought that antibiotics could cause vomiting - they can defo cause diarrhea. Fingers crossed for her - both females I have had with cystitis have needed a second course though.

Poor Menue. Glad she's stopped vomiting. Do you think it could have been a reaction to the antibiotic?

Aww thanks! She is much better now and has stopped projectile vomitting every 20minutes! She was howling all night though

It may just be she was so hungry that she gobbled all her food but if the sickness continues tomorrow I would insist that the vet sees her.

Once she stops being sick, only give her very small amounts of food but often so her stomach gets used to the food again and she cant eat too much in one go.

I hope that this clears during the night.

She now keeps being sick! I have rang my vet and he has said that it could be because of the cystitus and if she was having a reaction to the injections then it would have happened a lot sooner.

To start with, it was all the food she had been munching, but now it is just projectile saliva type vomit (some of which landed in my handbag...

). My vet told me to take away any food she might have and just give her plenty of water and to check to see that she is ok. Poor kitty!!

Hi all

Sorry for being such a drama queen lastnight! Maybe I should change my name to Drama Queen Penguin?

Just got back from the Vets. They were really nice in there and Menue was on best behaviour. Didnt whinge, cry, growl or hiss! Not even when she was in the car! She has cystitus and has had antibiotic injections and anti inflammatory injection. She didnt even cry when the vet stuck a thermometer up her bum

She is back to her own self... strutting around the place like she is Queen Bee! I don't mind though!!

I have know some cats who have been taken to the vets for a spay who looked very well and no signs of a problem yet when the vet has gone in for the spay has found the signs of pyometra, once such cat the vet said had the cat not gone in for a spay that day it would not have lived much longer.

Your normal vet number will have a recorded message with the number on it

Thanks for the advice. I am going to ring the Emergency Vet now. I will keep you posted on how it goes! I really hope it is cystitus. I know how painful that is in humans!! So it must be torture for kitty's!!

It is very nasty - and sadly can be deadly if not picked up on, yet another of the health probs unspayed females face.

That is good, fingers crossed it is just cystitis then - while unpleasant, it is very rarely really serious in females, and hopefully antibiotics should cure it.

I have just been reading up on Pyometra. It sounds extremely nasty and horrid!

She isn't showing any of the signs of Pyometra ie the discharge and she is bouncing about playing with her toys and calling for a mate!

It is sounding more like cystitis than pyo then - I would still ring the emergency vet to be on the safe side, and then see if you can get her in your normal vets in the morning

It smelled like wee... I stuck my nose near it...

She is due to be spayed next week.

She isnt acting any different from normal.

She had a decent sized wee earlier this afternoon. I couldnt tell if this had a red tinge to it because of the litter, but my hall carpet is cream so it showed up.

I Actually would give the vet a ring. It sounds like cystitis, but do make sure you mention the possibility of her being unspayed. They can decide then if it can wait or not - do you know the last time she would have had a decent size wee?

Are you sure its pee? They can get bloody discharge from Pyometra, as your having probs with her lady bits.
If its deffo pee and shes not acting any different then first appointment in the morning, its males who are high risk as they can block so quickly.

Just observed Menue squatting in the hallway and I went over to her to see what she was going and she was peeing, I tried to move her but she started howling so loudly. Then she looked as if she was straining. She ran off and I looked and there was red pee on the carpet! I burst into tears!

Why the blood? Should I call the Vet now? I really dont know what to do!!
