Gillian, I'd forgotten about the flight... it's not exactly my favourite thing either (understatement).  I do get nerves, but I find a stiff drink beforehand can work wonders :naughty: (but just the one mind!)

Its not so much the actual flying exactly - its the thought of it, if you see what I mean?

Hello all
Would people that are perhaps seriously interested in finding about more about this pls PM you details... April is just an suggestin and i think we would probably miss Easter as its very expensive time to go to Greece and Cyprus so it needs to be before or after.. May is okay as well, but it will start to get hotter then.. My main concern is that i dont drive in foreign countries for fear i may kill someone!!! I realise that they drive the same side of the road as we do in Cyrpus but still... Also need to organise a place to stay...

I'd love to do this, but April will be pretty soon after I get back from skiing (20th - 28th March) so I'd struggle to get time off and find the money to afford it.

  • Where are we supposed to sleep, then?
I am highly tempted by this myself...especially some trapping!...  just a bit concerned I might end up stuffing half a dozen of the poor darlings in my suit case.  :evillaugh:

Hi Sharon,

That sounds great, I'm quite flexible with dates as I don't currently work (during an OU degree instead) but don't like the heat, so April would be ideal.  I'll start saving my pennies now - it would be nice to make a food donation or take something like worming supplies too, but of course that would depend on the cost of the trip.  I'll PM you with my contact details once all the Xmas/New Year festivities are over.

Gillian, I'd forgotten about the flight... it's not exactly my favourite thing either (understatement).  I do get nerves, but I find a stiff drink beforehand can work wonders :naughty: (but just the one mind!)

Hi Jasmine
Oh my thats a piece of luck isnt it?
Well i am Kent way so perhaps in the New year we can exchange tel numbers and have a chat... I think they are up to any voluntary work to help them... April is good as its not too hot but just spring like, flights are cheap (at least when i looked a while back). I dont know about the BB but the cost could be reduced if there was a few of us sharing... Anyhows.. keep this all in mind and PM me if you want more details or have any questions..

Ta

work involves feeding, vet trips, socialising, trapping (i think!!) i think it depends... on what needs doing and when... Its around 3 1/2 hours in a plance and Easyjet do flights, so we are not talking about huge amount of money for travel... I am told its away from the town so it does involve working out how to get from A to B....

This is really weird, because I was thinking along these lines only a few days ago...

I haven't had a 'holiday' for several years and with our current needy, feline residents, it's just impossible for OH & myself to get away at the same time and we could both so do with a break.

What sort of work would it involve Sharon?

I am certainly interested - I sponsor two pusses with MCPS (Paparelli & Mr Jinx), so it would be great to meet them and to offer some practical help.

The only problem I can forsee is managing to tear myself away from my little darlings!

Anyone else?

I am thinking of doing something different next year and have thought of doing some volunteering work for the above Santuary in Cyprus they do some stirling work and i have make a few tentative enquiries. At the moment i was thinking of April time.. not sure how long for and it may be just a week or so with some spare time to go and do some other holiday stuff.

Does this take up anyones interest as well?. and although i have travelled on my own in the past, this is after all a rescue forum and i thought there may be other peeps out there that would also like to do something different...

Anyhows just a thought and i am in contact with the people that run the this rescue and have sorted out a few logistics.. There is a BB not to far away but transport is an issue that needs to be over comeable...

As i said just a thought.. this is their website should you wish to have a look at the work they do
