Poor mite!  :'(

Fingers crossed he will be first in line for those post Crimbo homes when he's fully recovered.  :naughty:

Did they say what size the puncture wounds were and how many? Maybe he got hold of a hedgie and this might explain his virus?  :shify:

He is much brighter today and metacam is doing its work so he is putting weight on his legs now, he`s been eating Royal Canin sensitivity pouches to help his digestion , dont want to speak too soon but no diarhoea today, he must be feeling better as he is ravenous all the time so as soon as I feel hes up to it he can have a milbemax as a treat

Ela we all work to capacity and more,

I was not for one minute suggesting otherwise.

Quote
I am going to point out that not only were national Rspca called who offered a help pack in post ,the inspector was also notified both said to put the cat outside.

Obviously I can only speak as I find and I have to admit that I am not great lover of our RSPCA branch or inspectorate in many caases , I know branches have said to leave or put back outside, in fact I know of one branch who uses that comment constantly. But I have to say when anyone has phoned the inspectorate  (I hear of loads a week) they do always authorise for a vet visit, although it may be the first £60 and then a vet will ask us if we will take it on.

I also find that people sometimes tell me they have tried everyone when I find out they have not or tell other charities they have tried everyone, when I know for a fact they have not rang me.

Quote
As for CP a rather large branch they too declined help the reason being every Christmas and summer holiday they empty out because of a mysterious virus isnt that strange ?.

I would find it suspicious if it happens often and at the same time of year. I know of a branch of a very famous rescue who I shall not name who does this every August and every December.

Quote
As to telling people to leave cat at vet if its out of hours they have to agree to pay call out over the phone,

That would not be a problem here as I ring the vet and authorise a MOT + treatment and if the little one can ‘go home’ and finder is willing to keep the little one until we have room fine but if not it can be left at the vets.

Quote
but as this little one needed an anaesthetic I was trying to do what was best for him as a second anaesthetic in a short space of time is not fair on him.

Quite right, if we have any that need an anaesthetic I too would authorise neuter immediately. I know of some vets though that would not at this time, fortunately our vet will.

I am so pleased that the little one  seems much better.

As for CP a rather large branch they too declined help the reason being every Christmas and summer holiday they empty out because of a mysterious virus isnt that strange ?. A local registered charity was also called as well as both vets in area. The finders were good people who made it very clear that he was injured. As to telling people to leave cat at vet if its out of hours they have to agree to pay call out over the phone, had I agreed to pay the call out and get people to take him straight to vets it would have added an extra £100 onto his already vet bill of £82. I try not to mention money on here as people well know, the reason I am showing these amounts is to show how easily £100 can be wasted, far better for cat to be assessed first.

I normally neuter after 7 days but as this little one needed an anaesthetic I was trying to do what was best for him as a second anaesthetic in a short space of time is not fair on him, however I have been left with no choice.

Anyway he`s quite chirpy this morning and safe.

How come CP. RSPCA, other rescues can neuter after a few days ??

We are supposed to wait two weeks. In cases like this even if we had no room (sometimes there just is no room not even a collapsible pen as they are all in use and every spate nook and cranny has a cat installed, which is not surprising when you receive 20 - 30 calls a day to bring in cats, some of them will be very urgent and cannot wait) we would have asked the finder to contact the vet,  leave the little one at the vets and worry where it would go later. Also if the RSPCA inspectorate had been contacted they would have authorised for the little one to go to the vets. So many people thing that a local RSPCA and the inspectorate are one and the same.

That poor baby it doesn't bear thinking about what some horrid person has done to him, even if someone does come forward I suspect they do not deserve him back.

If a photograph is all that is needed I will come and you can take a photo of him with me! how would they know? And then I get to cat nap of course :car:

Hope the owner of the vet surgery sees sense!!

I`m having a rough ride this afternoon, the poor boy is dripping diarhoea, and doing his best to get out of his pen now he has had more pain relief and if an owner bothers to look for him, they will claim him back and leave me with the bill, yet vet wont take his bits off; sometimes rescue stinks in more ways than one.On the plus side he is safe and comfortable.
Sorry rant over just sitting here in tears and needed to get it off my chest.

  Absolutely no apologies necessary Teresa. I'd feel that sad too - he's such a lovely looking lad and it must all be very confusing for him. The vets are mad to not neuter him when they were asked.

Oh poor little sweetie honey pie sugar dumpling!  :Luv:

somehow i don't think an owner will be coming forward for this little man and if they do then IMO it's tough about the neutering as you, I and the gatepost know it should have been done by now.  >:(

As for legalities, what a cop out.....'oh dear if we do this and the owner turns up, we'll get sued' ...... Ack!

As for the puncture wounds- i really don't want to speculate about what that little puss has been thorugh; my blood would run cold... :scared:

Anyway, he's comfortable and cared for now, another precious bundle not out in the cold anymore  :Luv:
