Any one with electronic experience who can fix a chip reader?

We have a chip reader that needs to be repaired, its going to cost alot to send away with no guarantee of success....  Its a diode problem... So anyone who has some experience and is able to take a look, otherwise they get dumped as the display is gone..
Cannot save the world, but if everyone does something we can have a jolly good job trying too....
