Hi everyone

Im sorry Ive been away from the board for a while.

My daddy lost his fight against mesothlioma after a two year fight and so things are far from normal around here at the moment.  My world collapsed and it is still very raw at the moment as we only had dads funeral on Wednesday so please forgive me for not being around or taking part in the auction.

I have had a ring around over the last few weeks to various vets but there is still no sightings and she has not been taken to any of the vets I have called.

Rest assured though she is welcome a home here if she ever turns up, regardless of how many kittties I will have by that time! :)

Melissa is thriving and now sleeps on  the beds, in fact I am thinking of putting a "wigwam to let" board up as she never hides in there anymore, not since she discovered eiderdowns and squashy pillows.

I hope everyone is well and I know its a little early but hope you all have a great Christmas and new year.

Love to all
Rae :Luv2:

Jo you did nothing wrong here -
You wasnt to know that she would break out.

I am quiet sure that somebody has taken her in or is being feed by someone.
I gotta a feeling that one day this little one will turn up again and the fact that she is mirco-chipped she will be captured

Sadly no. Those who were reporting her presence never had a second sighting, and each report became more distant. She seemed to be travelling in the direction of Canterbury so is presumably on her way home. Unfortunately my trip to Australia for my mother's funeral meant that by the time I returned there were no more sightings. I feel quite dreadful about this, but there is realistically nothing more I can do to find her and can only hope that, as she is microchipped, she will be found and identified by some stranger. Also that she has found a safe warm spot with a good supply of food. :(

Hi,

I am keeping in touch with Jo and had a reply from her on 28th August but unfortunately there is no sight of Maddie anywhere at all now.

We all stil have everything crossed that she will be back soon.

Maddie is chipped and registered and a lovely lady at Siamese Rescue has offered help, so my next step will be to email her with all the details now.

THere are at least five cats that live within two houses of me, let alone the ferals. But if I can get my hands on a trap I will see what I can do. Problem is the Medway RSPCA is a receiving and caring place only and does not do trapping, and the local CP is much the same. Also, Julie tells me she managed to evade traps for four months in Canterbury so it is unlikely I would have any more luck. But yes, it is something I will try once I figure out where she is.

I think we need to keep the focus of this thread on Madeline, but thanks for your good wishes, TT and MM and Sam. I will let you know what arrangements i have made for Madeline if I have to travel. But basically I am more likely to go back for the scattering of the ashes, which would be not until September (assuming mum does die, which is never a safe bet) so hopefully not for a while yet.

I think that that would be a more appropriate time as we would have the whole family together there and maybe I can share my genealogical research as part of the healing for mum's younger brother, my uncle ....

If Maddy is close by there is a lad next door who I will try to recruit into caring for her foodwise and company wise if I she is still out there, but hopefully we can get her back indoors before then.

Meezer, I am not sceptical of the process but am very sceptical of some of the people who set themselves up to do it, especially for cash. But this one did have a really good insight into Madelines character (which might have been built up from reading this or other threads), however her knowledge of Esther's personality when she did not know I had Esther and had not seen her picture was what convinced me she really was talking about my animals. And since she is in Bristol, and I am in Chatham, that was good enough for me. It is quite expensive, but worth it, to my mind, if you find a good one. The cost is £1.00 per minute. The basic process is that you send photo showing eyes (a little tricky for Maddy, but there is one with her eyes averted), and name, age and gender of the missing animal. They arrange a time for you to call. You speak for about 5 minutes then they hang up for about 15 minutes while contacting the animal. Then she rings back to describe the personality of the animal she is in touch with. You then can confirm or deny that this is your animal. If it is, then she goes from there.

My life has just become a little more complicated as my sister has emailed to let me know that Mum is very ill and probably will die this week, so I have a lot of thinking to do.

Will go for a walk around the neighbourhood and see what I can see.

oh I wish that little Maddie would just give herself up!  am following her story with baited breathe!

the communicator sounds good...I am always dubious about such things, but when they start describing stuff such as doors, gardens etc - and getting it rioght, then you just have to believe that there is something to it.

maybe I should get her details! are they expensive?

She's a little nightmare isn't she... really hoping and praying that you manage to see, if not catch, her this weekend.

Sounds like the animal communicator was pretty good.

Afraid so, Sam. She is being incredibly elusive. Have not had a sighting today, but last night spoke to a cat communicator. We spoke at some length, and her descriptions of Madeline's personality and those of my own animals were uncannily correct so have to assume she was reasonably reliable. The more so as she did not have pictures of Shadow or Esther or their names, but said that Maddy sees the dog as a big black shadow. She said that Maddy is still in the immediate vicinity and comes to sit in the garden at night, so today, having run myself ragged all week looking for her, I sat in the garden for a couple of hours in the hope she would turn up, but to no avail.

The communicator says she said she had run away because the house was dark and silent, and it made her afraid. Later she said that 'home' means darkness and being closed in and bad smells, so she is inclined to be tempted to the gypsy life because she can look after herself with her hunting. But the word 'winter' gave her pause for thought.

My own animals are still showing signs that there is something concerning them and they are travelling in the direction from my place that the communicator said Maddy is in - an not as far as usual. So maybe there is something to it.

She certainly described my back garden and that of the house next door quite accurately as well as the doors themselves. He has a glass panel in the door and I have a solid timber one, painted. She gave the same description, as well as details about paving and bark chips in the garden (his, not mine).

So I am hoping and praying she is right. But in the mean time, tomorrow I will ask around once more and see what folk have to say.

I am reluctant to leaflet any more as it seemed to stir up a bit of a frenzy of activity in the neighbourhood with people wanting to be the first to catch her, which is not the right approach. But if I ask strategically, I may find something useful and can recruit more discreetly ...

Am going to leaflet the next section of street, cos wandering down the road clutching a feather tickler and a large beach towel I struck up conversation with several people all of whom had seen her. Oddly enough this was not the strangest sight in that part of the street today - the other person was carrying an entire toilet and cistern, which he kindly delivered to someone's back garden while passing ...

None of the sightings were recent and the nice man tells me the food was eaten by a one-eyed black cat who hangs around his place... so am back at home sorting out if I have sufficient leaflets to distribute. If not, will do one side of the street today and the other side tomorrow when armed with more resources...
