Cats, like people, have preferences. I'm a bit of a homebody and love sitting in on a Saturday night with a glass of wine and trashy TV, other people my age are out clubbing three nights a week.
Chilli was/is an outdoorsy cat and as such my heart was in my mouth everytime she decided to stay out overnight. She is now officially missing. Dave on the other hand will go ontop the balcony but keeps coming back in every couple of minutes and gets fed up with being out there very quickly. I live in a very small flat but it is his choice to spend his time indoors with me rather than outside.
As long as there are no weight issues relating to lack of exercise I think the cat should be allowed to do what it pleases! If she doesn't like wandering and playing out then that's her choice, to force her to behave another way will only serve to make a happy cat an unhappy one.
