This sort of behaviour is a daily occurence for Dave but for now other reason than he is a greedy pig! There is no filling him and even comes for my dinner as soon as he's finished his own. I suspect he may end up on the rather cuddly side as he's pretty huge already for a six month old kitten!

He has one IM but wont take any interest in it food or not.  I do use an egg box for his Dentabits though and he loves that.

maybe a kibble ball or something would work as a distraction and if you drop a marble in with the kibble it restricts how much comes out even more... then he'll be more distracted by the challenge than the fact he's stressed?

I understand his patterns now and the vet def said it is comfort eating.  He doesn't go  crazy for food so much nowadays unless he has a mood on him and he has certainly had a mood on him today although he has settled a bit now.  When he gets like this he eats like he is starving and tries to get food all day long.  He was like this when he first came but has now settled more into his feeding routine, except when he is really stressed.  He will settle back down and I have had to be firm about it otherwise I am encouraging him to comfort eat

I'm not sure cats comfort eat like humans, I think they're either greedy or not greedy.  Riley is quite greedy and is always after whatever I have whereas Lu on the other hand never pesters for more food.  They'd both eat their own body weight in Whiskas Temptations though, hungry or not!

He hasn't got a weight problem yet but will have if we let him continue with the comfort eating.
Gill, I don't think he is entirely happy, he is frustrated a lot of the time because of the semi confinement with the cat proofing

He does it when he is stressed and I had been away for the weekend.  He had to have a different cat sitter as the previous one has left.  He will be ok again in  day or two.

He is so naughty sometimes (well a lot of  the time actually).  To keep on top of his weight he has set meal times and he decided he wanted his supper earlier than I was going to give it to him.  So he tipped up the toaster to get at some crumbs, banged and banged a tupperware tub that used to have his biscuits in, tried to lick the dishes in the sink and generally rampaged around to get his own way.  Well for once he got a shock, I didn't cave in and he got his supper at the appointed time.  He is now sulking and glaring at me from the top of the kitchen cupboard.  Why oh why does he behave like an angel for the cat sitter and like the devil for me???
