We now have the 5 kittens and dozens of fleas, 3 b/w boys, 1 tortie girl and I ginger girl. Today we will have to contact the previous owner and advise them that mum really needs to be flead and wormed and her home sprayed. I don't expect we will be flavour of the month.

Although I did try to get mum, I didn't want to be too pushy as you know what some people are like they will cut their  nose of to spite their face and slam the phone down. Also in a way it was a good job as where the kittens will go to be hand reared, (when I can get someone on the phone that is) as 5 kittens will be enought for the lady without an adult.

That mother cat will get spayed believe me.

We have had a similar situation and told them we could only help if we took mum and kittens - I wouldn't dream of making life easier for them by just taking the kittens and committing someone to have to hand rear them.
In our situation, we took mum and kittens and when the kittens were old enough for rehomng had the mum spayed and returned. They were happy with that.

No doubt if you had tried to get her to sign mum over to you as well, she would have said she is a well loved pet.

Actually I did ask if I could have mum but she said she did want her. I am also putting another voucher in the post for mum this afternoon.

These people never surprise me anymore. :censored:  No doubt if you had tried to get her to sign mum over to you as well, she would have said she is a well loved pet.  If she is so well loved, why do they let her keep getting pregnant.

I suggest the owner has this baby and then gets pregnant immediately so she can see what it feels like to be constantly pregnant. (On the other hand, this will probably happen anyway ;))

A few months ago I sent a voucher for a cat who had just had kittens. A month after the kittens should have been homed I contacted the owner and asked if the voucher had been used (I knew it hadn't) and was told that it would be used as soon as possible. A month later I sent a free voucher and offered transport. I have just received a phone call to say that the cat has now had kittens and her milk has dried up and can we take in 5 x 11 day old kittens. as the owner cannot possibly do it as she is pregnant,I said if we do it we will only do so if the kittens are signed over to us. She could not answer me fast enough to say that would be fine as she did not want them.  Fortunately I think I know someone who will bottle feed for us.
