I have received a load of pre=operative inof form my vets today - explaining all about anestheasia (sp) , what it involves , what will happen during the op etc etc.

They have included mock consent forms for me to look at before I arrive , and explained that they also offer optional blood tests to test for liver and kidney function and blood glucose. Also included a vouvher for £10.00 off microchip per cat.

Yep, that is good.  My vet did the same when Summer was booked in for her exploratory op.  She asked if I would like to run through them then rather than the day of the op as she knew I would be stressed about leaving her and worried about what they might find.  She was great.

All of my lot are chipped - sensible imo.

The Chip is wonderful - all but 6 of ours are done and they will be done soon - Gem when she is speyed, Beijing likewise but not till Christmas for the hooligan kitten, Ace when we convince him we nice parents and everyone else visits the vet but that won't be for a couple of years - he really isn't a viable option for that at the moment even after 3 years - he still hasn't forgiven us for drugging him to move 2 years ago and lets you know with all claws flying if cornered!

Cissy, Ragamuffin and Smudger will all be knocked out for injections and chip along with full MOT but that will come with time as they are still settling in but have been wormed and Profendered!
