Put some posters up in your local area and where he was found.  Also contact local vets and shelters to see if he has been reported lost.   click on the map to find rescues in yoru area:  http://www.catchat.org/adoption/index.html

If he is un-neutered then I doubt he is chipped but he really should be scanned just in case.

My near neighbour's boyfriend recently found a very friendly ginger and white tom near the Co-Op in Merritsbrook Lane, Northfield, Birmingham a short while ago. He's exceptionally friendly and healthy looking. Unfortunately my suggestion to take him to the vet to check for a microchip fell on deaf ears...complaints about being too busy! I also suggested they return him to where they found him: he's so friendly and healthy, he looks like someone's pet.
My neighbour said that they had tried this, but the cat had returned to them.
I'm not certain WHEN they aquired the cat, but think it's in the last couple of weeks.
Would love some suggestions as to how I can help this tom to return home. Apart from his un-neutered state, he looks in every way a family pet, and I feel for them wondering where he is this Christmas.
