I'm confused. I thought keeping a dog, other than a guard dog, was against the rules in Islam...

That being the case, how would you use a 'guard dog' to pick up chicks? Scare them into submission?? :scared:
Yes b/c you are right, specially in a very religious country like Saudi which women are not allowed to drive, work or even smoke and i read some where they dont even have birth or death certificate cos they dont count so i doubt it very much that some one walk around in the street walking a dog to pick a chick! In Saudi you simply do not have the freedom or choice of pick or being picked in the street and i honestly dont think they care about their cats or dogs as strays even to feed them yes they do keep exotic animals or tigers and lions but pets i dont think so. As for other Islamic countries not as restricted as Saudi YES some people do have dogs as pets and simply they are the animal lovers which go against the rules, and as for cats yes in Iran they do breed Persians but at the same time they are thousands of strays and ferals in poorly conditions as in many other muslem countrys, and so called third world countries May be we just shouldnt accept every thing we read in the papers!? But then how one expect people who cant feed them selves in some very poor places and the ones with no education to care .

I do think this is a very strong subject and i feel very strongly about it and i dont think this is the place to discuss this. x

If I post anything on this thread (apart from this) will one of my chums delete it?  I cannot be trusted to remain calm when discussing some of the worlds cultures and their attitudes to women, animals and each other in general  >:(

It won't help the ones around now but if there is no incentive to breed then it can only reduce numbers?
DO NOT BREED OR BUY WHILE SHELTER ANIMALS DIE

I believe I am not interested to know whether Vivisection produces results that are profitable to the human race or doesn't. To know that the results are profitable to the race would not remove my hostility to it.  Mark Twain

Hm, not sure about that one Mark.  If they can't sell them, what's gonna happen to them?

Probably a good thing if they can't sell them in markets etc?
