tried it on various people at the weekend at the current setting and quite close up and they all say it's not that bright and I probably shouldn't reduce the power. Felines don't agree - I have lots of photos with eyes shut  :Crazy: I can see a flashgun being added to the monthly bills.

I'm personelly not familiar with Nikon, but I am fairly certain the D40 had power reduction so I would think the D60 would have it too,

something I found on the interweb if the paper manual is the same as the PDF then you need to read page 65 and 66

sorry, you'll have to translate RTFM for me!  ;)
I've got the D60. Haven't read the manual yet of course   :-: but any ideas welcome! When I take their photo, they look like they've been tasered....or what was that episode of Frasier where his dad finds the old camera with giant flash gun and stuns everyone at the barmitzvah  ;D  :Crazy:!! thanks for any advice on how to get great photos of the boys with flash.

OH went away for a few days and bought me a Nikon dSLR at the airport (if anyone else is considering, they have good cashback deals until end Aug). However the pop up flash is so powerful that either they shut their eyes altogether (80% pics so far are with shut eyes) or else the 'green shiny eye' syndrome that I moaned about with my old Canon point and shoot is even worse.
I'm in a top flat with very high, cathedral type, white ceilings - anyone know if those would work or the problem would be sorted if I get a proper flash gun & point it up at the ceiling? In this grey weather, there's no way to take any photos inside without flash.
