Given the choice between spending a hot, airless summer night shut in a house, and out romping through bushes after small scurring things, if I were a cat I'd leave you a note on the fridge which read "Don't wait up!" 

Cats don't 'turn feral' through choice, Carl. There are smart creatures who prefer an easy life and you as their giant tin/packer opener really know this, don't you?

Mine will stay in during the day if they think their suit is not suitable for warmer climates and then they go out at night and hunt.

Much to my surprise, Sasa is in after being shut in the greenhouse again but Misa is definately out and maybe Franta.

In the winter they tend to come in earlier and dont stay out.

Mine are the opposite, lovely afternoon and 5 were indoors in my room and simon was in his kennel

Yep, Jack's like that at the moment. And Sage to a degree. It's the good weather - they're just making the most of it.

Thanks very much folks, reckon I'm flapping over nothing as usual. I put it down to sleep deprivation. I only got and hour and a half last night and I'm knackered now.

Baggins made I chuckle though - I was sat on the sofa waiting for his nibs to return, and Baggins kept on wandering over to the catflap, peering out, and coming bag mumbling as if to say "Dad, dad, he's not back. Not back you know" 

Comedy genius is Baggins.

Carl - If Baggins is anything like Foxy he would have been saying something like "he's not back yet .... can't we just go to bed anyway"   

Or as my Fergus would say "nope, can't find Polly anywhere, can I just have my dinner without her please??"

Zephyr is the same ... he is NOT allowed to stay out at night but my god does he make life hell for keeping him in!

I'm sure as soon as it starts to get a bit cooler and damp and the shrews aren't to plentiful he will be in front of the radiator curled up with Baggins.

Our Charlie is exactly the same at the moment.  OH made him stay in last night and he was not a happy furling this morning

Hullo folks, got a question about young master Bilbo.

He's always been one for the great outdoors, loves hunting, stalking and general guerilla activities ... BUT lately he's been out more and more. Last night he didn't return at all, and 3am found me rooting through fields after him. I found him scuttling through a hedge with a shrew in his mouth 

What I'm concerned about is him turning feral and staying outside for good. Is this possible?? I'm considering keeping him in for a week to break the cycle, but don't know if this will work.

Any ideas folks?
