Tabs joined us on Thursday, 28th June 2007, not altogether willingly at first. We don’t know how long he had been out there on his own, but he had been popping in to visit us for the odd snack or two since April that year.
It took quite a few months, before he became fully integrated into our furry family, as we had to take things very slowly when we found out that he had tested positive for FIV. In the early days, even though he seemed to cope with people reasonably well, it took some time for his hormones to settle down, and he just wanted to attack all our furbabes
As he gradually became calmer, he was given more access to the rest of the house, and more importantly to him, he had more access to his Daddy. Tabs has turned into a real Daddy’s boy
We gradually increased the amount of time that he was allowed his freedom during February this year, and since March, he has been able to go wherever he likes, whenever he likes. Tatty is in charge of upstairs where he hangs out in the bedrooms with Tommy and Suki, and Tabs is now in charge of our downstairs, and is perfectly happy to share the living room with Sweepy and Gizzy. Tatty and Tabs appear to have declared some kind of truce, and although they don’t like each other, they don’t fight when they occupy the same space any more
I am so proud of my little boy - we have come a long way, in just one year
Sometimes I thought we would never reach this stage. Here’s hoping for many, many more years together
Here are a few photos of our boy over the last year:
Tabs out on the driveway, before he moved in last year, at a time when we couldn't get near to him

A rare view of the top secret Tabs tummy, caught while he was snoozing
I know this pic was in the Purrs Photo Cat Show, but it is one of my favorites, and I think Tabs looks like a little star in it

… and again in May …
