If I have a few calls in a day, I do try and prioritise, mums/kittens and stray cats that are desperate for somewhere.   I think any decent person doing rescue will take in whatever they can on any particular day but not turn down a cat just because it's an oldie or a feral or similar  :sneaky:  A rescue close to me will turn down anything unless it's a kitten, funny they always have room for these but not the older cats  >:(   If injured ferals or anything to do with ferals, both our local rescues will give my number rather than get involved themselves  :sneaky:  Any phone calls I get, I do try and help wherever I can even if it's just putting a plea out, I would hate to just say "Sorry, I've got no room"

We dont have a quota of ages, but mums and mums/kittens are priority. We do sometimes do direct homing through the website/CC to help people out if we can't help any other way.
Please spay your cat

Sorry Angie I wasn't being sarcastic   ... I will change the title of your thread so it reads "cat" rescue  ;)

Hi Angie. We don't have reserve places for particular ages at Gateshead CP, our only limit is how many foster spaces we have which of course is never enough, but we do sometimes have to prioritise depending on the cat's circumstances and how much space (usually none) we have. I suppose a good example would be where there might be an adult stray who is being fed and sheltered by someone and maybe a pregnant queen or a cat in imminent danger and we would then get the adult one seen by a vet and neutered etc and ask the person to keep them until we have a space in order to get the urgent case in our care. We do have one fosterer who specialises in FIV cats as she has three FIV boys of her own but the other fosterers are very flexible, well they have to be poor things. Sorry that's a bit long winded but hopefully answers your question  ;D

Apologies for not thinking of the correct wording (as well as my usual typos)

We've been busy recently with mums and kittens and mums to be. My reasoning being that they are the most vunerable, and of course mums are then spayed hopefully helping in some minute way.

However, there are still strays around and I've been sitting on one (!) for a month now - it is on our website but the woman has just phoned up again. After apologising that we had no space , I did say I was expecting 2 cats today (both mums with a single remaining kitten) which sounds like an oxymoron (or it might not do, the word sounds right but I'm not sure of anything today).

So to sum up, the question I'm asking is do you put reserve ages on some of your spaces ? ie one for an oldie, one for a stray, and for for the little one that lives down the lane (  ;) ) ?
