For long term care it does say that arrangements are made in advance if possible. In the section about how help is obtained, it says that owners or relatives etc should contact HQ direct and explain the problem, and if they can, they will do whatever is possible to help. It does say that anyone of any age can make arrangements for pets that may outlive them to come into the Trust's care. I dont know if they will help if an animal comes into a rescue's care though, as they rely on voluntary contributions too. So maybe I am mistaken and it is just the owner or some kind of 'interested' party who needs to contact them rather than it having to be done beforehand.

They are, but I am sure the owner has to contact them before hand - none of the paperwork is anywhere near the computer though, so will double check, and let you know later.

Hi Des,

I apologise if I have misunderstood their work.  My mother has been a long time supporter of the Cinnamon Trust and I  thought that such eventualities were what they were all about.  Are they only there for their subscribers in that case....like a sort of insurance?

Would be interested in learning more.

Lots of love

Roz

Great news!!

Roz, just for info, the Cinnamon Trust wouldn't have been able to help - the owners have to contact them themselves before anything happens to them. As far as I know, they dont help rescues out, but will check the paperwork tomorrow. And everything has to go through HQ, even if you know a volunteer for them.

Hello all
Just had a talk with our wonderful fosterer who is looking after these two and she has decided to call them her own.  This is despite the health problems they have, she has a soft spot for Persians. She is also taking care of Humprehy so that means we will move this little man in the next few days.

She is an absolute angel and cannot thank her enough.

Read my other thread about Humphrey.

Hello Sharon,

Have you contacted the Cinnamon Trust?  They have been set up to cope with just this kind of scenario.  Elderly patients needing hospitalisation (sometimes resulting in death) with cherished pets who need caring for and a home until the situation improves (or not).

Lots of love to them

Ah, poor old boys! Although we have the persian experience, our home, like Maisey's, would be far too hectic I'm afraid with our three young persians/exotic - but do hope you find a loving home for them soon!

Its not as though they were not interested just very full up and no one on there list that may take them.  They have been helpful really though.  Anyhows so far tried four organisation for Persian and same problem.

Ah, poor souls! I was wondering about how you were getting on with them - did you try the numbers/websites I gave you on your other thread - in the general cat chat? - None of the  Persian rescues interested? Thats a shame, I thought thats what they were there for! Hope they find homes soon.

Awwww BLESS  :) They sound cute but my home would be far too stressful for such elderly gents I think.
I hope they find their forever home very very soon.

Helllo all
We took in two elderly persians a few days ago. Their owner having died over Christmas.  They look abit sorry for themselves and now have been checked over by the vet.  One is a Blue (Winston) the otehr (tabby brown, Max).  Winston was born 4/94 and Max 7/93. They are nephews apparently. They have been vac and are chipped already.

Max is very knotted and has lots of fleas. Winston has got a couple of large lumps on his abdomen which unfortunatly the vet thinks are cancerous lumps he feels that due to age and the size of them they are unoperable. His has problems with his  back legs  and that could be do with  arthritis or a side effect of the lumps.,so it is a case of wait and see and TLC.

They both need lots of combing that they seem  to enjoy. They also need eyes cleaning as well. . They are basically friendly just a bit shell shocked

They obviously adore each other and should be kept together. They are in CP care in Canterbury Kent and we want to see if we can rehome them to an experienced person who knows about Persians. I have already contacted Persian rescue, but no one wants to take such elderly cats or both together with health problems.

Anyhow out there?

If anyone wants to know more pls get in contact with me, they deserve a home for their senior days.
