LOL Milly - he finally delivered yesterday after 12 pouches and 3 days of laxatives! I've put him back on his mixed diet of dry and wet, so let's pray the vomiting problem is solved. It must have been the threat of a return trip to the vet!

He was back at vets today. It's probably due to the change in diet which the vet recommended. He's got some laxative paste we've got to see what happens in the next 72 hours. Keep everything crossed! He's was climbing the walls at first, but I think he's slowly getting used to life as an indoor cat with supervised outings! LOL

The fact that most cats are lactose intolerant is probably the reason it is an old fashioned remedy, and why it works.
I would be taking him back to the vet, and maybe investing in some Lactulose.

To be honest I dont know if it has cows milk in it but wouldnt give it to him if he is lactose intolerent

Hi Gill - I presume carnation is cow's milk?

He's got a lactose intolerance, so I'm not sure whether it would be a good idea. Last time he had milk he had to have a steroid injection!

Hi Milly - Nice animation! LOL I was as sneaky as I could be, but he kept eyeing up the fence. I was half expecting him to leggit into the neighbours and dump 3 days worth!

I had that with Ducha after an op and they said old fashioned remedy was do mix some carnation condensed milk with water for him to drink.

He turned his nose up at it but then drank some at night and yes it worked.

Its just a teaspoonful or less mixed with water and he had it for about a week........he would have liked it longer

My cats eat grass to make themselves sick so we have this soggy mess of grass and food too

Well I got home and let him out in the garden. He had a bit of a wander then started eating grass/plant leaves! His last lot of vomit on Sunday contained more garden than cat food, so I'm not sure that's a good sign. I picked him up and put him on the soil in the area he usually goes, and ... he did a wee, but no number 2!

He doesn't seem bloated, but that's over 72 hours now and 5 pouches, so I think it's back to the vets tomorrow!

Chance's are they should be of a stiff rather than sloppy texture!

Hi Baz & Dawn

I was thinking about letting him out when I get home later and then following him around! LOL I've got a harness somewhere from when he first went out, but he'll probably sulk for a week if I put that on him!

The vet doesn't want a sample, he just wants to know that they're solid and look 'normal'. His tummy didn't look bloated this morning ... now which side will his stomach be on!

It looks like I'm just going to have to camp out in the garden until he goes, and make sure he doesn't escape and do a sneaky one in the next garden!

What are we like?

I'd follow him as well Sam! I had to get a urine sample from one of mine and she wouldn't go in the tray with the plastic bead things they give you so after her not going for 24 hours I resorted to following her in the garden with a tea cup! I had a sample in about a minute

Hello Nosy LOL

Sadly he's not a kitten anymore - I just use this username on all the forums I register for! In the photos on Meet Thomas he's about 3 months. He's now nearly 23 months. I have hundreds of kitten photos, and not many 'grown up' ones. I'll post some grown up ones when I find the camera charger!

Just found it! Gosh he's nearly 2

obviously very old pics of him!

What does his tummy feel like? Does it appear bloated? Does he do his no.2s in your garden.....if so I would follow him round the garden and see what it looks like....yeah I know "nice job" but someone has to do it...

I take it the vet dos'nt want a sample you are just to view it?

Hello all. Thomas was at the vets on Monday after a bout of vomiting.

He had an antibiotic injection, and the vet advised me to starve him for 24 hours and then feed two pouches split over 4 meals per day for a few days. He also said to keep him indoors, so we can check the solidity of his stools!

The problem is he hasn't gone yet after 3 days! Is this normal? He's an outdoor cat (during the day) and is happy to use the litter tray to urinate in, but I know he usually holds his number 2s in 'til he gets let out in the morning!
