Hi again Michelle,

Thanks for the update.  I'll pm you for your address later today...unless you wish to pm me first.  All I need is your address.

Foal Farm sounds very large...is it?  They take in a whole array of animals...a bit like Wood Green. What did you think of the place?  It sounds like Lily has a lovely room to stay in until her babies are born.  I only ask because there was a dog on their site a while ago who had become almost 'institutionalised' because no-one had offered him a home in over six years..bless him! The main reason was because he was frightened of children (a group had tried to set fire to him when he was a puppy...hence the reason he was at Foal Farm) and he needed a home without cats also...otherwise I would have offered him a home in an instant.  I haven't seen him highlighted on their site for a few months but he is probably still there... I just dare not think about him any longer..it is too sad.

It would be good to know that Foal Farm is a lovely place though.

Lots of love

Roz

Michelle,

I think you ARE strong  to take her to where you knew she would get the best treatment. You could have kept her,but as you have said, it would have been so hard to give the kittens up. I think you did the right thing by taking her to the sanctuary. The people there will be  experienced in looking after pregnant animals.

Well done.
Sarah

Well just got back from taking Lilly to Foalfarm. I settled her into her new home, she is in the indoor hospital wing where she will have human company all day. She has a large room (yes a room not a pen!) with beds, climbing frame, scratch post  and loads of toys.
It was very emotional leaving her there as although i know she will be well cared for and loved i couldnt help but have a cry as i left her .......silly isnt it as i only had her for one night ! I gave her kisses from all her "auntys" on here
If i had been a stronger person i would have kept her till the kittens had been born and weaned and then rehomed them all but i'm not strong lol i wouldnt have parted with her or her babies.

I totally agree with what you have said Roz about the money paid for her, i find it  :censored: disgusting that she was "sold" but i had to put that aside and just get Lilly out of there. She really is the most loving little thing although i dont think she has had the best start in life as she "ducks down" when you go to stroke her (i hate to think !!!)

If i had been a stronger person i would have kept her till the kittens had been born and weaned and then rehomed them all but i'm not strong lol i wouldnt have parted with her or her babies.

Yes anyone that wants to send any money would be great and again i agree with Roz that any money over should go to Foalfarm, they are a charity who dont get any funding so that would be lovely.
Heres there website if you want to have a look

Lots of love

It makes me wonder how safe this 15 year old lad is if there were lots of 'uncles' about.

I can contribute too, towards the £80. I will pm you for your address or wherever you want me to send it to.

Well done. I am so pleased she is out of there. I agree that it's great what can be achieved through this site.

VERY emotional here. so pleased you have her. if you need anything for her let me know.

Bless that little baby girl.  she will be so happy now.

I'm with Roz. any dody material thing whatever. but a life. you cannot put a price on it and a life is a precious thing. in this case it is several lives. I wish Lilly a wonderful happy life now and hope her kittens are born healthly and have wonderful lives too.   Can't wait to see some photos of her. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Wonderful news Michelle.

It is worrying though that this young lad was given £80 for selling a pregnant moggie.  He will probably try that stroke again.  I wouldn't worry if he was selling dodgy computer gear or anything like that but animals are completely different. I hope he realised that you only bought Lily to save her from a neglected life.

I have seen Foal Farm highlighting their little strays plenty of times in the Rescue Magazine and I've always been impressed by them so it's really good to hear that Lily is going to somewhere so caring.

I shall send you some money towards Lily.  Perhaps if all of us who promised to contribute would send our donations to you, any excess could be given to Foal Farm to help towards Lily's upkeep.

Well done once again.  You've done really well hun. :)

Lots of love to you and the young mum-to-be

Roz

Just spoken to the lady from the sanctuary that she is going to - taking her there at 10.30 tomorrow.
God i am tempted to keep her but i have to be sensible, i already have 10 of my own and i know that there is no way i would part with the kittens when they are born so it is best all round.

Foal farm really is a lovely place and i work quiet closely with them so i will be able to give update on how she is doing. Saffron on these boards prob knows the place and will be able to vouch for it being a lovely place for her to be at.

Thank you to all that have offered to help towards the £80 Anyone that wants to give PM me but theres no pressure at all - i am just glad to her saved her from a life of having babies (which i am sure what would have happened to her)

(just going to charge my camera so i can post some pics)

Well done Michelle, that's fantastic news, I'll happily chip in towards her care too.  Isn't it wonderful what we can achieve here on Purrs, I know that we can't save them all but without Michelle she could be destined to have a very unhappy future.  I feel really proud to belong to our little 'community'.

Three cheers for furbabystar (Michelle) and of course to Mbll for bringing this to our attention  :cheer:

Sounds like a nice place (NOT!)

No worries on the cash, as I said, I'm happy to pay any amount (contribution or full amount if need be) to get that wee girl to a safe place.  So glad and grateful you were able to help her.  Poor baby but at least she is safe now!!!!

£80, to rehome a cat they didn't want anyway?! People can be awful, they just see animals as pound signs.

Glad she's with you and safe. Sorry I can't contribute financially, my lot are enough of a monetary strain ATM!(One that I'd not be without, obviously!)

Pictures,please! :)

Oh, well done Furbabe.

Right now, where do we send the money?  If you manage to persuade the owner to give you Lily without having to pay anything for her, then maybe the money we pledged could help the person/shelter who has offered to take her....poor little girl.  Just seven months old and a mum-to-be already.

It seems odd that a young boy should be asking for such a sum of money for a cat.  I hope he's not trying to sell the family pet!!  Or maybe he is in trouble himself. Worrying.

Do take someone with you Furbabe when you go to collect.

Lots of love

Roz
