No surprise that the public and the vets get a different story  >:(
Glad you got a home sorted out for him, was it a rescue or has he struck lucky and got a new family?

This is good news indeed, but after speaking to the CP yesterday,  I have to say your last assertion is contrary to the information I received.

** Please could the original poster PM me with a contact email address and/or telephone number**

I have just spoken to Lynn from Worcester CP who has been very helpful & suggested several options for this cat.
She also informs me that Worcester, Gloucester & The Forest of Dean CP's all take FIV positive cats.

She would like to help personally, but all pens are taken for sometime with pregnant mums... but is happy to advertise him on their website & will ring me back if a request for an indoor home materialises.

This is a list of all rescues on Catchat that are in gloc.. There is a few, not sure about RSPCA policies on FIV but there are a few independant ones there.. Have  you tried all of these? I doubt you will get a owner come forward he was probably a long term stray, the best bet is to get him intoo a rescue and they will rehome...

If you are willing to do the ringing around and come up with something there may be Purrs members that are able to help with some transport issues if need be..

You may need to leave messages on answerphones over the weekend but some may be open.. At least abit of time.
Suggest photos will help and also do we have a name for the fella.Good for you for trying to save this one though.

Sorry someone got their before me and we posted twice the link

Here is the list of rescues from CatChat on Gloucestershire ... there might be a rescue near you that can help that you might not have thought of:  http://www.catchat.org/adoption/glos.html

We are in gloucester, I dont have a photo at present but I can get one. If we found somewhere for him we would def neuter him beforehand that would not be a problem.
He came to us weds eve, so we have until thurs of nxt wk. Hope this helps

Sadly there are a number of CP branches that will PTS an FIV cat and I know one not so far away from me, well its quite a lot of miles but a friend took them in a stray who had tried to move in and they said if a vet check showed FIV it would be PTS  :(

vn that will  help but you need to give us location... Any photos and how long has he got before you PTS.? He needs neutering though before a rescue could take him (well at least that would be the first thing i would reckon on) a CP can supply a voucher to pay for that, even the one that told you to put him to sleep...

That CP deserves to be named and shamed!! (sorry having a rant today!)

But we need alot more information to be able to assist urgently.....Is the veterinary practice able to help with transport?

Thank you all for replies. This cat was brought into us by CP & once the result was reported we were told to pts. This is why he has not been neutered because we will hold him for 7 days to see uf an owner comes forward & if not we will have to put him to sleep. Sad, but this is the trouble we have with FIV cats.

I have seen a FIV cat advertised on my local CP branch's website (Mid-Warwickshire) on behalf of another branch recently - I think it was for Worcester if I remember correctly, about 30 miles from yourself - might be worth a try.

Good luck!

The last FIV puss Canterbury branch took to HQ is now in the rehoming unit and doing well. This is the one Mark and me took via Uckfields CP help.. I suggest Foal farm as well although Cp may be closer, although i am unsure they will deal with a vet practice and not a Cp branch.

I was suggesting a while back to have a list of FIV CP and other branches and org that will assist with FIV cats, cannot rember if i posted it or not thought.

There has been no update on here since yesterday which  i suppose doesnt give us all alot to go on... Whats happening to puss cat if no place is found and it seems strange that it hasnt been at least neutered yet. It would help a rescue no end if the basis had been carried out...!

Have you tried to get him into the CP down there? I hope that they wouldn't turn away an FIV cat, but they may be full with kittens at this time of year. If not, i'd ring head office of CP to see they can suggest anything... good luck

I am a veterinary nurse & we currently have in our care a stray cat that has tested positive for FIV. Our local rescues cannot help because he has this virus so I am hoping that someone may be able to help & take him in. He is a white male (un-neutered) dsh, currently a little nervous but to be expected. Any help gratefully received.

Cant believe your local rescues wont take in an FIV cat !!

Will he be getting neutered ?
