Really? Maybe it's how much of it they eat? Mine have had a bite or three at it for years with no ill effects, but they don't swallow much. Lots of leaves get left on the floor (or in one case, a whole young plant got pulled out by its roots

). That grow-in-a-pot cat grass on the other hand made Max vomit blood. I do find an inch or so of spider plant helps settle the tums. I'll see that they don't munch too much of it though. thanks.

I was reading Your Cat at the vets this morning, and they did say that spider plants can cause issues, it was either 60 or 80 cases they had on file.

With some plants certain bits are safe and other parts are dodgy. No idea about yukka tho

True, but if it wasn't 100% safe then why would they put it in cat food?

To be honest that advice I would never give unless I knew 100% for sure it was true and I don't. I appreciate Yucca is on some lists as safe bit equally is also on toxic lists. If a cat suffered because I said don't worry I would never forgive myself.

I don't think there is anything to worry about with Yukka, they wouldn't put yukka extract in cat food if it was.

Unless and until there's a definite list I'm going to avoid yukka just in case. Pity as I know da Max would enjoy shredding it

So we are stuck with the very exciting and attractive (er) spider plant. They keep pulling it out of the pot and then don't even manage to much the leaves much

Anyone 100% sure about begonias btw? M&S have a lovely pot and it's OH's birthday and he loves plants for the flat roof....otherwise all we can see is a boring, flat roof. Our little 3m2 of borrowed roof is our 'garden'. The boys don't venture out there much as they don't like the pebbles on their paws

I can't find any right now although there were some herbal drops for "excess gas and digestion" that contain Yukka as well as other things.

Then I found it on a list of poisonous plants

no, it's so confusing. I assume that if they disagree it's because it probably isn't dangerous, but as you say, don't want to take avoidable risks.

Can't be - certain dry catfood has yukka extract as an ingredient! (PAH's own and JWB I think)

You can look at lists and lists, Yucca is on as a poisonous plant on some and on others it not mentioned. Yet on a list of safe plants Yucca is not mentioned either. I personally do not now take the risk.

I used to have a yukka plant years ago. Magpie used to nibble it and didn't come to any harm so I don't think they are poisonous. Not 100% certain that ingesting more than a little wouldn't be toxic though.

Does anyone know for 100% sure if a yukka is poisonous or not? I've checked all the google lists on all websites. It's left off most of the toxic lists but is on one or two. I'm desperate for a bit of green in the boring flat, but obviously not if it's dangerous. They may not chew it anyway if it's spiky - they ignored the Xmas tree for eg.
