Hi all, sorry about the wait!
Been at the vets today, and yes, she is pregnant, and the nipples seem to be normal.
I'm not too pleased with the visit, I have to say the vet was very curt and grumpy, I had to keep asking questions and he would not say much or recomend any special care, even if I said I knew little about cat pregnancy and such. He was a bit rough in her handling, I had to step in as I felt Mina was panicking, and he seemed annoyed at my meddling. The cheek. Won't be going there again! Although the vets there are always changing, I went with a freind before a few times and there was always someone else. I choose them in the end because the'te very near and Mina loathes the transporter, plus my friend uses them. I would so like to find a good vet who is guaranteed to b e there next time too!!! Muy friend has the same problem. (she has a dog)
I guess I'm used to long waits! Sad, really. I can see by your answers that you're very lucky in your postcode lottery!!! In London (at least the part where I live) long waits are the rule, I actually called 3 local vets and all said today, unless the cat is suffering, near death danger.
I have to say she doesn't look like she's suffering at all, she eats and sleeps, and runs around, she wakes me up at 4a.m. to play, and she's so cute I don't even mind! I just get up and play her favourite: she hides behind the curtains, and I move the curtains with a ruler, that she takes great pride in catching straight away, from the other side! She can go on for hours, jumping around on her back legs like a little bunny!
My eyes are still close at that time, and my curtains have seen better days, but she's so happy, I figure a mum to be needs special treatment
In fact I thought the wait wasn't that long: my GP doesn't take any appointments, her month is full already on the first of the month-no, I'm not kidding!- If I insist wanting to see her, then I have to call in every day at 8 am to check if anyone's cancelled, (rare event) or see a trainee doctor in two weeks time.
I've already changed GP twice, no better service is available. In emergencies, see the A&E department!!
I guess my area of London has a BAD overcrowding problem.
Mina has the brightest wide eyes, full of mischief, and she would never sit on my lap, never! Nor anyone elses, relly,
To her Human=Play!
If I stroke her gently whlie she's cleaning herself she will clean my hand though, very mumsy of her.
Her nipples are growing in size and during the weekend I tried to bribe her into being a good girl and let me wipe them with a cotton bud wet with warm water, she let me (for a short time)and the dark spot came off a little, so I assume it's either blood (thwe cotton bud was slightly pink) or dirt of some kind. Strange, because she cleans herself regularly. She loves freeze dried chicken treats (the most expensive available, of course!) and will give in a minute or two of her time for one piece!
The vet didn't coment on the nipple crust, just said she's fine! No comment about what could the dark marks be...
I got more advice from you guys!
I was thinking of booking with someone else, I know she's all right in generall terms but I want details and advice, other than internet and books, well what doyou think?
Thanks again!
