I went for Parcelforce and they delivered one box today.  They left it outside my door which was good, but there should be 2 boxes.  I've never had a delivery split up before but I suppose it can happen - has anyone else had that happen?

Unfortunately I don't have nice neighbours   :innocent:  If a delivery comes and just happens to knock on next door and they are in, then fine, but I couldn't specifically ask, and most people in my block are out during the morning anyway.  Parcelforce have left it in the corridor outside my flat door before, which is good, but I can't specifically ask them to do that as I could be in trouble then for blocking the corridor.

The problem with leaving it anywhere really is the weight of the boxes when they contain cat litter and 30 tins of cat food!  I can't lift them so like to be in when they come so that they can bring it in to the hallway for me.  That's the reason why I can't collect it either.  Even if someone puts it in the car for me, I still can't carry it from the car park to my flat.

I think I might just go with parcelforce and see what happens.  If they leave it outside my door or with my neighbour then great.  If not, then I'll just have to work something out.  I do have a friend who might be able to take it (or leave instructions for it to be left in his porch).  That is problematic in terms of me getting it here, but is a possibility for re-delivery during the week if all else fails.

you can leave a message at checkout but the delivery organisation does not always read it in my experience. A note on the front door providing a neighbour's contact is your best option. Usually they will happily comply ...

Could you leave a note on the door - please leave outside the door or with neighbour at X.  Not sure if you can add a comment at Zooplus checkout  but if you can you could put the same message on the comments box.

Do you know your local postman - we got to know ours as he was the one who knew where the house was, Parcelforce now know we are in every second friday and will deliver it then or they give it to our postman who knows he can leave it at our gates as noone passes them up a single dirt track!

You could also ask Parcel force to deliver it to your work and they will put it in your car for you - I got DHL to do this when they were messing us around but a quick call from my sister who used to be a rep for them sorted that one!

as far as I know DHL charge extra for a Saturday deliver and parcelforce have a special delivery option for Saturday, so I am thinking that no they won't redeliver on a Saturday

DHL/Parcelforce deliveries on a saturday? (zooplus)
« Reply #1 on: April 09, 2008, 20:36:04 PM »
Does anyone know whether DHL deliver on a Saturday?

When I order from zooplus, I usually select the Parcelforce option.  The last few times I've been lucky and either been in when they come or they have left it outside my door or with a neighbour.  But I've also had to go to the parcelforce office a couple of times and once they left it at a post office for me!  I'm going to put in an order this weekend but know I won't be in when it's delivered.  What I'm hoping to do is have it arrive midweek and then arrange for re-delivery on a saturday.  Collection is not an option as it will be heavy (litter plus lots of tins).  Not sure if either deliver on a saturday.  I'm not keen on parcelforce due to the fact that they tend to send a letter instead of put a note through when they attempt to deliver, and I certainly don't want it ending up in some post office again.  But the DHL depot is miles away and there's no way I could carry the boxes from their office to the car park there (not exactly next to each other!).  I am going to need it re-delivering, and Saturday is the only day of the week I can be in.  Does anyone have any experience of saturday deliveries with either?
