Drinkwell Platinum - 2 motors burned out in under a year?

Found the manual on their website  - and that the "spare" part fits inside the motor. I fully expect it to break down very shortly

I emailed VetUK yesterday and a replacement came today. The motor is running but it isn't pushing the water up the tube into the bit where the water pours out 

I noticed there is a small piece of black plastic that doesn't seem to go anywhere - -please can someone advise?

I don't remember it from the last time I replaced the motor 

I am sick of this thing 

Apart from the gushing noise, the basic one was much better

We use bottle water too, it might be because it gets sunlight on it for quite a bit of the day.

My is in our lower ground floor - no sunlight

I have 3 with no problems.

Use filtered water in them.

Mine hasn't turned green - I use bottled water. I don't know if that makes any difference?

I havnt had a problem with the motors Mark but the resevoir/tank at the back of mine keeps going green, I clean it out regularly but within a couple of days the green is back - the water isnt green just the plastic.  I was hoping that I could just buy the resevoir on its own but cant find one anywhere

When I got it, the plug socket was damaged so they sent another one. It came complete with motor which I put away "just in case" - the first one stopped working. It had gone below the line and was running dry. I replaced it with the spare a few months ago and the same thing has happened 

The old standard one was running for 3 years and still worked when I binned it. It ran low loads of times but the motor was fine. They are slightly different motors. Anyone else had this problem? - The problem with such a big tank is you can forget about it.

I only realised when kylie knocked the lid off - she is sitting by it waiting for the water to come out
