40 pounds would be 18.1kg - that would be an incredibly large cat, I have met a couple of nearly 20 pound cats, and they were big, I can't imagine one double the size.

the 40kg claim is nonsense  :evillaugh:

From BBC News June 2005

3. Some records are no longer accepted by Guinness or are closed to new entries. Those such as heaviest cat have been deemed unethical as they may encourage owners to overfed their pets.

some other records - a 38 year old cat?

Even they say someone probably got pounds and kilos mixed up.

It weights about 40kg apparently and is in the guiness book of records

now there is a positive message to send - not!  >:(

not only does it provide a disincentive to the owner to address its pet's health issues, it also provides an incentive for the more moronic, yet competetive person out there to over-feed there cat  >:( >:( >:(

Poor, poor cat :(  I just hope that its slaves are doing everything in their power to make him/her healthy and not playing on it for the 'prestige' or, god forbid, money.

To be honest, whether 40 pounds or 40 kilos (80 pounds)... that is cruel.

I don't belive for one minute the cat weighs 40kg - 40 pounds even sounds unbelievable. Kylie is huge and she is 7kg.

OMG poor thing.

I have a cat whos overweight but its not what he eats its because he is on steroids,he only really eats a pouch a day and a mouthfull of jwb.  Wonder if this cat has a medical problem or has his/hers owners let him become this way by overfeeding? :'(
Love me,love my animals.
