Ear mites - advice

Don't know about the mites but the Canaural did not work for Charlie's ear infection, he had two lots of it over a four week period and the vet changed it, can't remember what to though

Got the stronghold but my vet said it might not work (he doesnt trust it 100%) If it doesnt i will have to go down the "Canuaral" route!

We have had numerous cases when we have needed to use Canaural Ear Drops

When Charlie first came to me after straying he was over run with ear mites the vet said.  One lot of Stronghold and they were gone but it left him with an ear infection which took 9 weeks to clear properly.

Make sure you treat everyone as they are contaigous  Canuaral from the vets is v.good, if you decide to treat everyone then get a prescription for them all as its half the price online

I thought Stronghold kills them better than Canuaral ? (and Canuaral takes days/weeks doesnt it ?)

The last time 2 of mine had ears mites it cost me over £100 just for those 2 to be treated !! Dont tend to use that vet now

Who was it on here that said their vet let them crawl on his face to see what they feel like? 

Did anyone else see the program the other night where a doctor allowed himself to host all kinds of nasties, like ticks, headlice, bed bugs etc. I missed the end but the first two parts were gross enough 

Anything like that makes my skin crawl. He asked some of his friends to bring their matresses and vacuumed out dust to see how many dustmites per gram there were. His own mattress was the worst but he said it was already in the house when he bought it  . He mentioned putting kids toys in plastic bags and in the freezer to kill them. May be a good idea for pet fleeces & beds etc? - I always wash mine at 60 and hope they are still in one piece. Usually they are fine

Thornit is brilliant for earmites - I always keep a bottle in, but a little bottle will last years. Its a powder so no horrible gunky ears from oily ear drops and no nasty chemicals from stronghold - and it works! http://www.canineconcepts.co.uk/item--Groomers-Thornit-Ear-Powder--thornit

Yeah i have done that.

I have given her some metacam too (incase she is in pain) and i'll go and get Stronghold in the morning

I would'nt think she would be in pain unless her ears where that bad she were about to go deaf with them....I imagine (Ive never had mites personally! ) them to be irritating in an itchy kind of way!  Although I could be totally wrong!

Lilly has earmites and they are driving her mad, She is holding her ears funny so i think she is in some kind of discomfort.
I cant get any stronghold till tomorrow but have read on interent to clean ears out with mineral oil
So -
Can i use a different oil ...Olive, sunflower, vegtable ?

I would just use a baby wipe till you get the stronghold tomorrow!
