My vet (London) is £25 initial consult, then sometimes if it's a follow up, I get it free. Have been rather a good client though unfortunately. He once told me vets earn about £35g a year. When you compare the care the good ones give our beloveds to the rubbish care that we get from our GPs (london anyhow) who are on £120gs a year, makes me want to say 

On worming tabs, Milbemax are nice and small and can be shot down the throat easily at home ?? Saves a stressy trip in the car.

Its a night mare that I may see a flea on Sasa cos cant touch her.

I applied frontline just after I got back from hols. Well sort of..... Tom no prob, Freddie no prob but Billy... mmmmm well he sort of caught a bit of the squirt as he legged it but most went into the air. Unfortunately it didn't quite go where it should, went on the side rather than the back of his neck so he could lick it off  but no harm done as so little of it actually got on him I suppose

I don't know about my vets, but I have been in the past on the odd occasion and seen the nurse for something and not paid a consultation fee.

To see a vet, first consultation is £20 and I can't remember how much follow ups are.  Follow ups after ops, inc neutering, are always free.

For Doc's eyes and ears yesterday the consultation was £22, then the meds were only something like £8 and £7 each (after VAT), ended up at £39 anyway.

The first consult at our vets is £29 but then goes to £21, I have to say I've had Jess back to the vets 3 times for check ups and haven't paid anything for the rechecks, plus I'm always with the vets around 10-15 minutes so I don't mind the cost

My vets are £19.62 I think for the first consult, then it goes down to £15ish, then £13ish.

One of my vets charges £12 and the other charges £20 odd, I usually get away with paying a consult though as I'm probably there more than some of the staff

I will have to look at the last invoice but it was £41 just to see the vet and get an anti biotics injection for Misa and a month prior to that was £49 to get the same for Ducha, although we did go twice for a second injection.

I notice that they now have 3 vets and loads of new staff and there were so many cars there I couldnt find somewhere to park.

I have never wormed my cats in 15 years of being owned by them - the vet always does this at MOT.

It's nice to hear of vets that do things that are 'free.' I suppose you might be paying for this in other ways but . . . . all the same.

I found out last week that the consultation fee at my vets had increased from £22 to £27!!  :shocked:That's just to walk through the door! I had absolutely no idea - I had thought it was about a tenner! I always just grinned and bore the wallet impact of each visit - I had never asked for a breakdown before . . . . . it's shocking! I have had the same vet for 15 years and trust his judgement so will no doubt stick with him - but now I know how he can afford to drive around in a brand new flashy car every year! 

I'd be interested to know how much other people here pay - I am in Brighton and things tend to be quite pricey in general . . . . .

At our vets you can have a free nurse check for fleas and worms, then of course you can legally but the best preparations rather than the rubbish available at pet shops and supermarkets.

my vets offer a free worm and flea check, never used it though, so dont know what it would entail. They also do free weigh ins.

Yes, my vet's has a clinic on a Saturday and Sunday where you can see the nurses for free general advice as well as worming, de-fleaing and claw clipping (which you do have to pay for). Only problem really is that all of my three hate going in the car so it's easier to do the worming and de-fleaing at home

I've never been offered this but do get some of mine done at the vets anyway.  If I get feisty kittens in, I usually let the vet worm them for them especially if I'm using Milbemax, the Stronghold I usually manage to do myself.

Nobody has ever offered this to me and my cats get wormed at MOT by the vet, Always a problem cos Sasa has a drop on being semi feral but she canted be strongholded cos the two cant be done at same time.

Hi Chrissie , on wednesday when i took Phoebe in i also took strong hold with me and asked them to put it on her since she was under sedation but when i collected her they said they forgot to do it ! But i think if you get the wormer the practice should do it for free since we spend so much money in there.

Dont know if anyone else's vets offer this but I have not been offered it at either of my previous two vets,; you can have your cat wormed by the nurse for free (you pay for the wormer obviously) and also deflead.  I am going to make good use of it then it is the nurse who is the horrible one, not me!!!!
