My Meeko likes to drink out of my glass of water at the side of the bed, when he does this he paws the bedside table as he's drinking! He has dont this since being a kitten and now my other cat has started to copy!

It has ended up in disaster on more than one occasion with a glass of water over my head in the night!!! oh dear i wasnt happy!  :P

My 2 boys are now doing this, mainly when they are too stuffed to finish their dinner.  Very annoying as they tend to tip over the water straight into the bowl of biscuits too.  Lesson learnt after a dirty floor once too often, dont put water or biscuits down until theyve done their little after dinner dance   :)

My 8 month old kitten has started doing this too.  Although she seems to always tip the water bowl over too

My two grown ups do this and now the three kittens are starting to copy too !   The other thing is that if they are sick they also try to cover it up and often put a toy on top of it !

 give her a duster

that aside it can be pretty annoying when they get frantic about it (like my cody) so i just shoo him after hes done it enough and that puts a stop to it normally.

ah, ok. just as long as it's common. there's wooden floor boards there so she's helping to polish it  ;D

 we get asked this so many times

yes its totally normal and lots of cats seem to do it, some more than others.

there are a couple of different theorys but the one you read seems to be the most common one.

advice..put a mat or something under the food bowl or your carpet may suffer as she gets bigger !

cats pawing the floor next to food

My kitten gently paws the floor next to her food bowl, usually after eating. I can't seem to find much info about this, but i did read one article that said it might be instinctive to do this after eating as it's like burying the left-overs so no other cats can find the food.

Anyone else seen this or have theories?
