Thats awful, I have forwarded this to my friend who has huskys and she will forward it to a large number of husky owners, etc, hopefully the more it gets around the more we can change.

They have yard dogs over there and then claim they are upset when they are rescued. If you loved a dog you wouldnt keep it chained in your yard

It's really common in America. I came across a site the other day where a brave woman has been arrested for trying to put a stop to it. We only see the glossy side of America on TV but in reality a lot of it is really backward where animal welfare is concerned. I had this conversation with OH in the garden at 6am (fags & coffee time) He said when he was growing up, family cats never went to the vet once as it was unheard of - and he comes from quite a well-to-do state (connecticut)

Edit - here's the site http://www.dogsdeservebetter.com/home.html

DO NOT BREED OR BUY WHILE SHELTER ANIMALS DIE

I believe I am not interested to know whether Vivisection produces results that are profitable to the human race or doesn't. To know that the results are profitable to the race would not remove my hostility to it.  Mark Twain

In ancient times cats were worshiped as gods; they have not forgotten this.

Dunkirk, New York in Chautauqua County

Peppy is a 15 yeard old Husky who has been confined to a metal cage her entire life. She has never felt the grass between her toes, she walks on an open grate, and her health is deteriorating. She has no one to talk to, no real warm shelter during New York's freezing temperatures. She needs out and we need to effectively contact the people below to get the word out please write to the media outlets, pass this on to everyone you know to put the pressure on the officials who care to do nothing
