Hi Mark,
I have the medium size flectabed - no-one would lie on it while it was flat on the floor- but i bought quite a large igloo bed from ebay and decided to put this inside it.
Well it gets lovely and toasty warm and Winston loves it now , nobody else gets a chance to get in there now !

hmmmmmmmmm £5.00 and a bit of time on the sewing machine, vs £39. I know where my money would be going, but hey, I don't have a sugar daddy (or is that son? )

I know there is a slight crinkle and someone on here said it put their cat off sleeping on it. So I assume the £13 reflective bed on Ebay has the same stuff inside? (£6.99 postage though  )

I would rather buy a proper one as it s completely sewn in and comes with a removable, washable cover. Probably the wrong time of year to buy one?

I don't want to throw money away as I already have 2 snugglesafe that don't get used.

thats the stuff I am talking about. We call it space blanket in Oz. It is simply a film of reflective plasticised material that radiates heat. I have used it around a summer weight sleeping bag when the temp dropped to around 1 degree overnight and was snug as abug in a rug (although I did spend the rest of that camping trip being referred to as a a pollywaffle!)

Seriously, I was amazed at this fabric. I read up on it and it said it was developed by NASA and is used by emergency crews due to its effectiveness. It really was like there was heating coming from it. you can also get liners for Katcabins made from it. They are cheaper on Ebay but not much. I will have to have a look around. The small size is too small I think. I think Alice would benefit from it.

no idea Mark but I suspect you would get the same result from one of those plastic foil 'emergency blankets' that are part of most first aid kits. Would probably cost less than £5.00, and you could sew it between two sheets of fabric if you were worried the cat would eat it.

I am still thing of getting Alice some kind of heat-retaining pad. I saw Flectabed in PAH yesterday but it was £36.99 for a cat size piece  - I was impressed as I put my hand on it and could feel the heat reflected straight away. Isuppose if it works, it's cheaper and safer than a heated bed?

Any experience anyone?
