To be honest it's less about the carrying (although at 7kg it would be nice if it had wheels  :evillaugh:) and more about finding one that's got a big enough hole to more easily insert 7kg of wiggling cat into!

Funny you should sat that -  I saw one in my local pet shop - I said to hubby shall I get one of these for Zubin?
(he is really heavy to carry) -

hubby said that's not for animals - I said OH yes it is  ;D -
It was really nice - but I dont think I'd buy one as it is - but  if I have to carry Zu a fair distance to the vets then yes I would consider it.

I've got a large carrier that is on wheels and has a handle, plastic like normal cat carrier just a bigger version, got it for our Jack Russell when she was little as she used to come to work with me every day.  Got it in Pets at Home so they are available.

Thanks all - it's pretty  much as I suspected - shame they don't do a huge metal/plastic type carrier on wheels really!  Geoffrey has a good go at getting out of my atlas 20 - he can prise up the corner of the top - so there's no way I'd risk it if there is even a possibility of him escaping from a fabric one.  Next time he needs to go I will try the towel method and see how we get on!

I guess if your cat is placid and likes going out they would be ok but mine are never best pleased about things and Geoffery sounds like one of those types!

I'm with Milly's Mum on this one. Cat's can be unpredictable when in unfamiliar situations and it's not worth risking it. Frank was Ferral when we got him but we have built up a good trust and he's now happy to go in a top loader metal carrier.

You could try covering him with a blanket he like as this calms them. It worked for me and now I don't need it. Good luck!

Understood.

but this pet stroller is made of totally different materials to baskets.

The compartment the cat is in is zipped closed. It doesn't have a door.

The top part zips down onto the main part of the compartment.

My cats are ragdolls though and are placid in it. I cant comment on ferals or other breeds/moggies. A very feisty cat may be able to cause damage and escape.

I hear of far too many missing cats because baskets have failed, so i wont take the risk anymore. Not long ago Mark collected a cat and the basket came apart, wasnt an old one either >:(

My cats have not been able to get out of it. Their claws haven't damaged it at all.

The material is very strong. The main frame is metal.

I have used it many times with no damage.

I dont trust anything that isnt made of metal.

You can get bigger carriers on wheels, the airport type ones

Yes I have one.

I think they are great and Elle one of my ragdolls loves it.

I take her out in it to my local pet shop. It has room underneath for storing things and a coffee cup holder.

Folds away well.

I do get either strange looks from people who suddenly realise its not a baby pram and there is a cat inside or people going "awww how cute".

Got it on Ebay for under £30

Anyone got one?  Are they any good?  I can't get Geoffrey into a cat basket (front opening, top opening, front and top opening) for love nor money and I think one of the problems is that he likes to sit right up and most baskets aren't high enough.  Apart from the obvious that he knows where he's going when he's put into one of those!  I was vaguely pondering with the idea of one of those pet stroller thingies which might be big enough for him to sit upright in and maybe even easier to get him into   Plus of course the whole strolling thing would ease the burden on my arms at trying to carry a huge tubby into the vets every time.

Am I barking?  Should I just resign myself to a life of claws, spread legs and backache?

All suggestions gratefully received.
