Esther, who is currently sitting on top of her tower staring meaningfully at me, seems to be full of beans lately! She came home this evening with a dead autumn leaf (goodness knows where she found it) and stood outside the cat flap mewing portentously until I opened the door to let her in with her 'prey' which was, of course so huge it would not fit through the flap (in her imagination at least  ). She was given organic chicken pate from M&S  as a congratulatory treat. The dreadful Smidgen is still loitering outside and seems determined to stay out all night (well, at least until 9 o'clock!) being the big grown up 9 month old boy that he is    (He really is getting huge!!)

After the escapade we had with Moss passing away, I received a phone call from the Vets a few days ago and this time it was good news...

Saffi has tested negative for any blood born parasites, FELV and any other thing that could be up with her...so she's in the all clear!

Dont worry Blackcat, we wont rush into anything. Give Esther a treat on us in celebration of Saffi's good news! hehe

another way of looking at it might be that she is sooooooooo happy to have her humans to herself! She sounds like a right character and perhaps when Moss was still with you did not have a chance for her full personality to bloom. Some cats are like tht. There is not overt fighting going on but the other cat is subdued because of the presence of the dominant cat ... now she has you all to herself and is milking it for all she can get ... ;D

They all do have definite personalities, and in my place Smidgen is definitely the strong one. As a result I sometime wonder if poor Esther is just sitting back watching and being envious, but does not know how to express herself as well.

Give yourselves time to get to know Saffi, and don't rush into anything ...

Since our little Moss died aged 7 months we wondered how Saffi would take it. We were hit hard and we could only imagine that Saffi would miss her friend who she used to enjoy playing with. We didnt allow me upstairs during weekdays but since she's been on her own we do have in the room with us and although she wakes us up sometimes she's a little angel and you couldnt possibily stay mad with her for long! hehe

I always used to think cats were stuck up and if you wanted a true pet who would be your friend then get a Dog, but Saffi is showing us that Cats are just as affectionate as the weeks go on! Sometimes when she's too boisterous we put her downstairs but when we'v been getting up in the mornings she's been so affectionate...literally. I mean she rubs her head above you in a manic frenzy and is screeching a meow (she cant do it properly yet). Then she lies down and wants her belly tickeled! lol.

She's also been a lot more vocal as well and so because she's not been moping around and she's truly highlighted that we do have a fantastic pet still (although we still think about Moss), we decided to treat her to some Pilchards - She absolutely lapped this up and then contentedly groomed herself and had a power nap.

All this has highlighted though that she is a very sociable cat and maybe sometimes is driving herself up the wall (hence why she's so happy to see us) because we dont allow her outside. So we'r definetly going to get another rescue as a companion for her and a loving friend for us!
