The name of the program is "Trash for Cash" and will be shown on BBC-1 day time TV in a similar time slot to "Cash in the Attic".
They are still looking for about 4 couples or families with a serious clutter problem in their home which the owners wish to dispose of. The participants need to be identified within the next 2 weeks as they hope to finish filming the programs by the end of March / early April. They said it is definitely not too late to nominate somebody.
The program will give help with identifying which clutter is saleable: which might best go to a specialised dealer, which might best be sold at auction and which should be sold in a "garage" type sale. The program will make arrangements for each of the 3 options to happen.
The aim is for the participants to raise cash from their clutter on the understanding that half of it will be donated to their nominated charity.
There will be exposure for the charity. The presenter will discuss with the participants which charity they will be helping, the aims of the charity and why they think it is a worthy cause.
Also at the end of the show, the participants will be able to present a cheque to a representative of the charity concerned who will have the opportunity to again publicise and promote the charity and its work.
Employees of the charity are definitely not eligible but voluntary helpers of the charity might be acceptable; the latter would need to be discussed by the researchers with their program executives. Ideal would be somebody who is not a member but has adopted a cat from us (..... and has a house full of junk !!)
